hey guys, wasnt sure where to post this so here it goes. I have been doing ALOT of thinking about wrol situation in this country and have decided to plan for the abslute worst scenario (hopefully it will never come to this)
I have about 22 acres here on my little farm. I have ordered heirloom seeds for my garden. Am stocking up on long term food storage (another discussion for another time). loaded up on guns and ammunition. Have put in a manual pump on a drilled deep well (fresh water no matter what). an emergency supply of everything from toilet paper and razor blades to medical supplies and prescription drugs. I am trying to prepare for a situation where my kids and grandkids would have to move home and we would form our own little compound. I am even building two wood burning fireplaces in the house for heat in case of no electricity, and have 30 gallons of off road diesel fuel for my kerosene lanterns for light.
where I am still scrambling for an idea is a perimeter defense. I know with 5 of us on my little farm there will always be something that has to be done and we will not be able to "stand guard" 24/7. so I want to rig up some type of trip wire perimeter defense. dont want to go as crazy as setting claymore mines, but have to admit the idea was intriguing. Maybe something designed around using a shotgun shell with a spring loaded nail as a firing pin inside a piece of iron pipe. This would let me know of intruders on my property in plenty of time for us to arm ourselves. They dont have to be aimed at anyone, just maybe fire into the air, just simply so the loud bang will alert me no matter where I am at. In the house in the middle of the night, in the garage working on farm equipment, working out in the garden, or even in the kitchen canning tomatoes or whatever. Just so the noise will get my attention to anyone approaching the house through the woods. But it does have to be reloadable, not just a one time throw away thing.
Is there anything on the market now, or has anyone else given this any serious thought.

SHTF/TEOTWAWKI, and now, WROL threads are not done at THR.

Any device that can fire a live round will be treated as an illegal firearm without the right paperwork.

Look into trip flares or other trip alarms. Or, perhaps, cans on strings.
