Shotgun won’t load shells

Hello everyone. I was hoping to seek some help from the masters on an issue I can’t seem to fix. I refinished my grandfathers old Springfield model 67 series B 20 gauge shotgun and I can’t seem to get the shells to load in the magazine tube. I push the shells in and they just want to slide right back out. It won’t catch on the cartridge stop at all. I have replaced the cartridge stop with a brand new factory replacement and I’m still having the same issue. I’ve noticed that I can load some shells in if I have them catch on the small protrusion on the bottom of the bolt carrier, but then I can’t pull the forend back without it sending the first one flying out of the bottom and potentially jamming up the rest. Any ideas?

You either put in the shell stop for a different model than yours, or a used one that was out of spec. Try this; put the old one back in; if it still does it, I'd suggest bringing it to a gunsmith. I noted yours is a 20 ga. This should be the right part:
