Should I be concerned with Tikka T3 Lite's plastic parts?

Call me OLD school but.... Plastic and paint on a fine firearm is just a SIN!

I hate it... change my mind... I'm just not going to do it...there! :banghead:

Will your T-3 fail you because of the plastic parts, I seriously doubt it.

However, I will issue a challenge to all who opine in such that plastic is as good or better than metal, be it steel or aluminum, on a firearm.

We have seen plastic parts fail miserabley... as have the aluminum parts, however, the plastic does seem to be in the lead here at the shop.

Mostly cracked trigger guards, pistol grip caps, ect...

Don't worry about your Tikka. Shoot it. Enjoy it! :D

Mike, by definition plastic and paint are never components of (or applied to) a "fine firearm". They are reserved for "working tools", which are in another category entirely ... and are usually "ugly as sin"!. :barf:

Personally I like my guns with blued steel and walnut. My Model 28 wears Pachmayr 'Grippers', but that's my only concession to 'modern ways'. :)

If that's the definition of a working tool, then the Tikka is most definitely a working tool.:D

That said, there are some pretty nice Brownings that have nothing on it in the "looks" department.

I hear ya' Reid73.
That was a boo boo on my part, one should never use the words paint and plastic in a sentence concerning a 'fine firearm'. :D

I too am a walnut and blued steel guy, however in the last few years I have sined, yes father, forgive me... for I have purchased, and have even hunted with the blasphemous stainless and synthetic rifle!

My only hope for redemption is that I am blessed with enough years so as I might purchase yet another steel and wood, fine firearm! :D hehehe
