I can think of a lot of other guns I would want before spending over $500 for an AK pistol. I mean it might be a whole lot of fun (along with a whole lot of noise and muzzle flash), the first few times at the range with it but I really don't see much in the way of practical use from it.

But as they say it's your money; spend it as you see fit.

like what? and why?

Well I like 9mm.s (plinking, target shooting, home defense, concealed carry, and still relatively cheap ammo available), so something like one of these would be great for around $500:

Beretta PX4 ($498)
CZ P07 ($444)
CZ P09 ($464)
FNS9C ($481)
S&W Shield ($372)
HK VP9 ($569)

Something in a .380 for concealed carry:

Kahr CW380 ($311)
Glock G42 ($400)

So you see there are quite a few guns out there at that price point that appeal to me (and probably to a lot of other folks as well), that have a more practical use to them versus an AK pistol.

Do you have any "normal" pistols already? If so, go for it if you want it! Ak pistols are fun!

They also make good truck/road guns if legal to do so ( its legally a pistol, so atleast here in NC, its covered by my Cch)

If you do get one, I highly suggest a single point sling, when employed correctly its actually pretty stable....

7.62x39 plays nice out of a shorter barrel ballistically speaking aswell... far more effective then such a critter in 5.56.

And yes, they are LOUD.

:)

Compared to the M85, that AK pistol will be a lot louder. The 7.62x39 is louder than 5.56 to begin with, and out of a 6" barrel versus 18" for the M-85 you gotta be kidding.

The Draco is a range toy at best.

The M85 actually looks like a very practical hunting rifle.

Sounds like you enjoy pistolized rifles, so I say go for it. If you have an AR pistol and like it and shoot it you'll like this one too. I personally think they look, sound, and feel awful though.

yes i have all kinds of pistols/rifles already, this is what i meant by zatsava m85: http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/...85+PAP+Semi-automatic+556NATO+10"+Steel+Black,

i guess it's a 'pap' m85.

i didn't realize there was another zatsava m85 in 556, which looks like quite a nice rifle.

just thinking about the next gun, and that one looked neat, also considering a bare bones springfield 1911 and some kind of bolt 30-06. i like 'assault'-looking guns in general

I bought a Sig P556 a few years ago. It was really fun..... for the first 500 rounds.

Then I found it to be a pistol that is stupid heavy, hard to hit with, really loud, difficult to aim, confusing to shoot because you want to aim at targets further away feeling like you have a rifle in your hands, when in reality it is a short range weapon, expensive to feed, and frankly not terribly good for anything.

I traded it and a S&W642 to my LGS for a 3" S&W 686+ and a Ruger SP101 in 22lr. I don't miss it a bit. When the Sig brace came out and shouldering the gun was still legal, I thought maybe it had potential, but potential for what? Without a stock it was hard to hit with, even using a single point sling to stabilize it.

The bottom line was I realized I had a really fun spray and pray apparatus, and that gets old and expensive fast. Across a room I suppose it could be used for HD, but other than that, you really are better off with a rifle, and not a short barreled noise maker.

If you can afford to spend that much money on something strictly for fun, then enjoy. I don't have those kinds of funds sitting around, so I decided with that trade that all of my guns would have a practical application from now on, and if I wanted a HD rifle, it would be a pistol caliber carbine, not a center fire rifle or stunted version of one.

Just my experience. Good luck.

Now full auto........

Ask your mother. snicker.
The point of being a big kid is to be able to buy apparently useless stuff just because you want one. Assuming you'll still have the rent money.

she's a lefty so she'd say no and go into a two hour diatribe over how no one needs a gun D;

i don't reload so it'd be about as expensive to shoot as shooting bulk pack 9mm, actually a bit cheaper with wolf 7.62x39

is there any way to multiquote ;l

Depends. The pic in your post shows a proper sight on the rear trunion, the link to Bud's has a cheesy sight on the flimsy dust cover. That would be a deal breaker for me, even though the sights will be of near zero value in either case.

What a bunch of Negative Nellies.....but then I've yet to figure out why folks think they need validation from others as for what firearm to buy when it's just for chits and giggles. Lord Teapot.......if you like it and have the monies...go for it. If you grow weary of it as time goes by, sell it or trade it for something else. It's a $500 toy, what's the big deal? Folks spend more than that for a dang phone...........

i have a spare ak side mount top rail lying around somewhere. but yeah, the reviews ive read say that little sight on the dust cover is hit or miss, sometimes it comes right sometimes it is useless.

well i was hoping for more 'why spend 500 on that when you could spend 500 on this other gun' type posts. i have a lot of guns, i already have two ak-looking pistols, all niches filled in all regard, etc. i'm looking to buy another one, that draco caught my eye, so i brought it here ;l

Buy it, get the stamp and you'll have a nice SBR.
Tricked out right its a dandy and handy little rifle for things that go bump in the night.

Use the money you'd spend on this to pay the $200 for the tax to put one of your other AK pistols on a Form 1 as a SBR. Then use the remaining money for parts and tools once your Form 1 is approved. Then when you save up your next $800+ use that to get a can for your now SBRed AK pistol.

I have a lot of "novelty" guns in my collection and they're all fun. Well, maybe not the DoubleTap, but the EAA Thor, the Bond Arms, the Boberg... etc. If it makes YOU happy, go for it.
