First, I'm not here to debate the usefulness, safety, practice drills etc of shoulder rigs. I have used them in the past, and they work for me. I wouldn't want one as my only carry option, but in certain circumstances, they are hard to beat. Also a properly holstered handgun is not pointed at anyone, so please no comments about pointing guns at anyone behind me.

Now that is out of the way: This will be for a full size 1911. I've decided on one of two holsters. The Lifeline from Ted Blocker or the Monarch from Andrews Custom Leather. It appears the big difference is the strap across the back of the Monarch, which the Lifeline lacks. The Monarch is $75 more than the Lifeline. The Monarch also has several extra cost options that may be added down the road. They may work with the Lifeline harness as well, not sure on that.

My main question is about the comparable quality of the two. I don't have a way to compare them side by side. Is the extra $75 worth it? Does anyone have access to compare them? Or even other leather products by both companies?

No experience with either holster maker but like the addition of the lower back strap of the Andrews Leather design. Great idea to keep the holster in place when bending down or leaning forward.

Only ever used an Uncle Mike's ballistic nylon SH, while in The Queen's Service.
Leather is far too expensive to live in my arm pit. $200 to $300 plus is nuts. Make my own holsters and mag pouches anyway.

Just ordered the Ted Blocker. I just could not justify the additional cost of the Andrews, especially given the already expensive nature of the purchase.
Also helped with the wife that it is the same shoulder holster David Boreanaz wears as Special Agent Seeley Booth on "Bones". She loves the show, & as you know, if Moma ain't happy, ain't no one happy. :)
