ok... lets say someone was woried about having an intruder come in to the house while he or she was showering. what would some options be in firearms... i was thinking maybee a stainless pistol with verry "water resistant" amo to have in the shower.

i curently don't have anyting in stainless, but was thinking of picking something up too fill that roll:confused:

I can only assume that someone either is visiting from the planet Klewbus, or that they're severely off their meds... No matter how paranoid, we all have to sleep sometimes. Next thing we'll hear is "what kinda gun do I wanna have while sitting on the can?" and "If I'm in a public toilet, should I have the hammer back and the thing pointed at the door? What if I fart?"

If the shower monster really scares you that much just keep a shotty right outside where it will stay dry.

I'm not at all ready to put a gun in my shower.

But...

I've thought before that a smart home invasion type could watch your house and the various lights going on and off. The ideal time to hit would be when the homeowner was in the bathroom. Surely that is the least likely room to have a gun. And we do spend a lot of time in there. With the door closed which could make it hard to hear a small amount of breaking glass. So I have _considered_ having a stashed gun in the bathroom. Hasn't happened (yet) but I have thought about it. To the point where I decided my S&W M640-1 would be basically ideal. Maybe inside a vacuum sealed bag with six spare rounds of .357 Magnum in a SpeedStrip. Duct tape the bag to the bottom of the bathroom sink toward the back. Very unlikely to ever be discovered accidentally but could be ripped off and deployed rapidly.

I just may do that some day. But not the shower!

This funny

Now, recently there were some posts here on THR that the most common break-in times were supper and (I seem to recall) showering.

I personally make no apologies for taking my pistol into the bathroom with me. Anyone who wishes to laugh or prod is free to do as they choose. That is why no one is required to pay my mortgage. In fact, I carry 24/7!

What is the difference between paranoia and reality? I can tell you...my parent's house has been broken into while I was home (8 years old). Another attempted B&E when I was around 10, an attempted kidnapping at age 11ish, and an attempted B&E at age 16. And my parents did NOT want a gun in the house?? Can you say stupid??? As an adult, our house was broken into when I was a HS principal.

Okay...so, now it isn't paranoia, now it's PTSD??? Pay my mortgage and you can tell me when and where to carry at home. Come to think of it, I'll just pay it myself so I can do as I choose :D

You have to sleep sometime? Correct. That is why we have dogs.

Now you've opened it.
What about when you mow the lawn, winter ? summer?
How about that family softball game. Do you slid into second base on your left side? On your right side? On your back ?On your stomach. Where o where shall I carry my piece.
And heaven forbid if you own a swimming pool!!

I can't take it anymore, my brain is getting full.

Doc2005, he's talking about taking a sidearm into the shower while he showers. Not simply taking one in the bathroom

Shower... I don't see myself ever going that far.

Bathroom, probably.

Most guys on here seem to carry around the house anyhow... that includes the bathroom.

Claymores outside the bathroom.

While that is a very respectable option, it would be impossible to place enough claymores to thwart an assault involving multiple battalions with claymores alone. I have thought this through for a good 2 minutes, and I think the 'fix-all' is an ejection seat built into the toilet, clearing you from the hotzone effectively.

At the local gun shop they sell a wide assortment of water proof pelican boxes in all kinds of shapes and sizes. You could keep your gun right next to the soap dish:D

Uh... I _do_ carry when I mow the lawn... My backyard neighbor, the one with the pickup truck topper sitting in the middle of the yard, with other junk in the mud all over the place, has a pit bull and another overgrown yapper. If one of 'em comes over the fence, I'm gonna go for slide lock.

I used to play softball with a cop who always carried off duty. When it was his turn at bat, he would give his weapon to a teammate to hold.

Shower: No.

Bathroom: Frequently.

I've also wondered how much of an effect that repeated, high humidity, long-term storage would have. I don't notice any issues yet, but rust doesn't take-over overnight either (at least not often).

If the dogs give that special bark I can be out of the shower pretty quickly. If they don't I'm pretty sure that nothing really serious is going on inside or right outside the house.

If it makes you happy throw your glock in a tupperware container and bring it in with you, or put your revolver in a vaccuum or ziplock baggie... Its not for me but it doesn't sound like a hard problem to fix.
