I have wanting an ak for a long time now and Saiga comes up every once in a while as an option.

I have been wondering what is your opinion of them and their perfomance, did you regret your puchase?

I have also heard that they are about $100 less than a typical ak. But if I want to get an attachments for it like a flashlight or new stock on it can I use pieces that are usually for ak and put them on a Saiga?

We sell a lot of them. Our customers say they get about 2 MOA out of the box, with Wolf ammo.

They are a better build than your typical WASR.

We sell the UTG side-rail mount also. It has a picatini rail on the side as well as the top.

Get one and enjoy!

As a plus you are getting an AK made in Russia like the originals. I have heard the redo on the Saiga 7.62x39 is a little complicated if you've never built an AK before and want to change stocks, magwell or the trigger assy to the original AK configuration.

You can't beat an all ruskie AK. Craftsmanship is top notch and since its an AK, you wont run into any problems. Get one. They are generally cheaper than most AKs, even some WASR-10s right now which have quite a few problems such as canted sights, trigger slap and loose mag-wells.

Saigas are excellant. I'll have to tell you my experence with mine when I get one later in the month.

I have one in 7.62x39 and another in .223. Both are fantabulous. I don't know if I will do the coversions. I was originally planning on it, but they point and shoot fine the way they are.

Yes, definately get a Saiga, while you can. They're great rifles at a great price, converted or not. I've been moments away from buying a 2nd one....
for months !! I've even already bought another bullet guide !( the six week wait from Dinzag, turned out to be less than two.)

I bought one a month ago.20 inch 7.62. Found it at a pawn shop for $250 + tax. Very low round count on it :D

I picked up this scope http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=364288&t=11082005

This mount http://www.combathunting.com/SCOPE_MOUNTS-AK_47_5th_Gen_Detachable_Double_Rail_Side_Mount_1.html

and some weaver rings. All of the parts were purchased from Midway USA.

What a bargain. I was also able to purchase a scope leveling kit, a bench rest and a scope lens cover. All of this for less than the price of a bargain bin cmmg AR.

Over the weekend it went to my local range. The groups were tight with wolf military classic and fiocchi fmj. I also shot some brown bear SP as well. The brown bear did the worst of the three. There were no failures of any type.

The groups were pretty tight, about 1.5 - 2 inches at 35 yards. I know that is not the greatest endorsement but this is my first scoped rifle. With more effort on my part I know the groups will improve.

The factory furniture is flimsy, but will do the job. My conversion parts will be ordered very soon. To answer your question, I am very happy with the purchase and this shoots better than my Yugo SKS ( open sights) and even better with the scope. The Saiga is also about 3-4 lbs. lighter than the SKS.

Make sure to stay 922 compliant if you buy one and convert. Lots of info on the Saiga-12 forum. IMO the Saiga has a lot more potential than a WASR. Also, they are brand new Russian rifles. Made in the same factory that produces true AK's for the Military. Probably one of the best deals going now...

I'll try and post some pics when I can. Buy one, you will be happy!

I picked up this one for $340 fully converted and so far I don't regret buying it at all. I would choose a Saiga over a Romanian AK any day, even if it wasn't converted.

Saiga definitely.

got mine for $250 + shipping + ffl fees (classicarms.us)
Planning on doing a conversion (basic conversion about $100).

even unconverted, I've been having a blast with mine so far

That is a fantastic deal. Tell me where. PLEEEEAAAASSSSEEEE.

I have a saiga and think it is a great gun and bargain. The way other AK prices are rising there is minimum price difference on doing a saiga conversion and you end up with a russian AK. The only problem I had converting was I broke the tap threading the bullet guide hole.

forum.saiga-12.com is a phenomenal resource on everything saiga. Quite a devoted following too.
