For an advertisement that mentions "accuracy" as critical, I thought their picture choice odd. What do you think is wrong with this picture?

Handloader magazine, February 2007, pg 67

*In all fairness to Sierra, they were very responsive when I called and couldn't believe that picture make it into the advertisement. They were even more shocked some guy from NY noticed it. They have very good customer service!

RH Shooter LH Rifle ...

I'd be willing to make the assumption that the original photo was really a left handed shooter shooting a right handed rifle ... and some idjit got the image mirrored.

It looks like a mistake, but what you can't see is that he's actually shooting left-legged game standing on a right leaning slope.

It's the only way that shot could be made.

;)

Ok, so there are a number of problems with the ad.

I'm a lefty and I shoot right-hand bolts without a problem. Not really an accuracy issue.

Although, maybe its a little ridiculous to suggest that your handload will make up the difference for not using your sling, kneeling, and in all likelihood, wobbling and shaking like an inappropriate joke that I'll refrain from making.

And just out of curiosity, is that scope canted, or backwards, or is the turret really supposed to be way up front at a strange angle?

Except that the Sierra logo on the cap is right way 'round.
The Sierra logo looks like it was added later, so I bet its a right handed model (not even gonna call him a shooter) with a left handed gun.

You must not be a hunter

You must not be an avid shooter! (sounds childish, huh).

I've been hunting since I was 8 years old, I always use eye protection, and for the past 7 years I've been using the Walkers game ear.

Let's see how well you hunt when you are deaf and/or blind.

From a lefty shooter that has had to shoot righty rigles for a long time, it's good to see a righty struggling with the same issue!

Pick, Pick , Pick..

That guy probably never hunted before in his life.

It's just a ad, not a real person.

Sierra's are so over priced that I don't see the difference.

Hornady bullets will shoot and kill just as good as Sierra's will and cost less money.

Maybe the guy was only shooting at a target when the picture was took.

You don't need ear plugs when you are hunting in the open woods...

The Walkers Game Ear is a very nice product, but costs as much as my first car.

I'm not sure the photo has been flipped. Look at his left hand. Is that a wedding band? I'm a south paw, so I noticed the gun right off. :D
Mark.

Took me a while to realize that. This was a bit more subtle than that rare southpaw Mosin Nagant seen on the poster of Enemy at the Gates.

I'm not sure if that's a ring or not, it's dark almost like a shadow that continues to his middle finger. However, the scope seems to say that the photo is reversed. I don't see a windage knob. As far as I know, even on left handed models, the windage knob is still on the right.

To answer kulak's original question about accuracy, I think arthurcw hit it with the first response. I also thought it was strange that the ad should emphasize accuracy and the shooter isn't using a sling or any other steadying assistance for that matter.

It ain't no thing when the shooter's using Sierra Matchqueen Seeker bullets!

Haven't looked at the answers...

Left handed stock?

edit-

Ding ding! Gold star for me. I noticed the cheek piece first. Didn't see the bolt handle was on the wrong side until later.
