This happens in my brand new Sig 1911 Ultra...

Upon firing the last round in the magazine the slide stop lever is not properly engaging the magazine follower. This results in the slide rarely getting held open after firing the last round, and on occasion the inside notch of the slide stop lever will get lodged underneath the lip of the magazine follower, resulting in difficulty of getting the magazine to drop from the gun. This happens with stock SIG 7-round magazine as well as Wilson Combat 6-round mags.

Any ideas? Should it just go back to Sig? Break in related?

If it is doing that with different makes of magazines it needs to go back to Sig. The slide stop is a little short. To work reliably it needs to be "exactly" the right length. It is NOT going to "break in".

Unless the slide stop is truly defective?
You should be able to bend the tab on the mag follower over just enough with needle nose pliers to hit the slide stop reliably.

Better to do that then get a longer slide stop that gets bumped up by bullet ogives in the mag and causes premature slide lock before the mag is empty.

Magazine tuning 101.

Is this a common issue? I don't have much experience with the 1911 platform. Thanks for the help.

I wouldn't say it's common.
I have no knowledge of the SIG line of guns as I have never worked on one.

But I wouldn't say it's unheard of either with match tuned 1911's.
SWC target bullet shapes often require shortening the slide stop projection to prevent bullets bumping it up. Also some JHP bullet shapes do the same thing.
Then you tune the mag follower tab to work with the shorter slide stop projection.

I would take the slide off, put the slide stop back in the frame, insert an empty mag, and see what you see.
If you can shift the mag follower to the left far enough to operate the slide stop positively?
Get out the pliers..
