sig 220 vs ruger p90

I have a P90, and love it. I have the hogue grips on it, which are extremely comfortable. I've shot a P95 with the standard ruger grips (similar to what is on the standard P90), and found them so-so. If you go with a P90, get the hogues. But be warned, the hogues are pretty fat. Nothing extreme, but I can see how someone who likes a slimmer grip would hate it.

All that being said, I've never shot a sig 220, or any sig for that matter. My honest opinion is that you have to decide for yourself. I wouldn't let price play too much of a role in that decision either. If you love the 220, but go with the P90 b/c of price, you'll probably regret it and wonder why you just didn't wait a little longer and save a little more money.

If price was a major concern, I'd go with a P90. If not, I'd choose the P220. If you can get a used P220, its still gonna be more than the P90.

The P220 fits me better, with the exception of the slide stop. It doesnt work, but thats my fault, I shoot 1911s high thumb, and therefore do so on everything that has a spot to put my thumb...

I have never owned a Sig, but my P90 is the single most accurate .45 ACP I have ever owned and I have owned several.

Fired both, bought a Sig. Sold my first P220 due to financial reasons and kicked myself for doing so untill I was able to get myself a new one. My new P220 is on my nightstand right now.

first 9mm was a ruger.
latest is a sig.

Ruger makes great handguns, I love their revolvers, but their centerfire autoloaders are bricks (to me anyways). I got rid of my P90 and never have looked back.
Since then, I've loved every autoloader I've shot more then the Ruger.
back later, gonna go fondle my Sig...again...

also check out the p345 i have one that is extremely accurate, sa trigger is great and the da isn't bad is pretty smooth plus i got a great deal on it nib.

of the two though i would go with the sig, hck its a sig and everyone needs a sig!

You people are sad if the worst thing you can find to say about the Ruger is about its looks...

IIRC Ruger went to a Bar-Sto engineer to design the barrels after they got bad feedback on their original P85.

to me looks don't matter especially if the gun is for me and not my fashion oriente wife, as long as a gun s accurate reliable, and generally good to go then i am happy. and who says the rugers are ugly. i happen to think that my p345 is pretty darn sexy!

We had an exercise in an IDPA course where you lay on your back and hold you hands over your head and fire on a target in a doorway. (Simulating lying under your bed and firing at an intruder.) All the Rugers failed to function when held upside down. It may be that the three Rugers in the match all had some other malfunction that caused the same problem in all three.
But, no other guns suffered from that problem.
It is worthy of note that the majority of guns at that meet were Glocks, Kimbers and Sigs. They all functioned flawlessly upside down.
Incidentally, the intruder had your mother in law as a hostage. It was surprising how many shooters accepted the points dock for shooting through the hostage...

Another vote for the Sig 220. I rented one and it was a good shooter. Went to the store to buy one and ended up walking out with a HK P2000. The P220 is still on my list and the only reason I changed my mind is because the P2000 is a little more left hand friendly than the P220. I'll probably get the Sig after I get my 1911 I've been dreaming about.

I traded a HK USP9 in when I bought my Sig P220. There was nothing wrong with the USP, but it was just not a gun that I took to.

Should you run across a used S&W 645 or 4506, those are great .45s also. I have owned a 645 and now own a SIG 220. I can't say I would prefer one over the other.

Regarding the price of the SIG, there is one hell of a lot of markup that takes place when guns cross the Atlantic. I once went into a gun shop in Mainz, Germany. I was shocked at how much cheaper the German guns were there than in this country.

Sig Sauer. And I own a P97 and a P90. Have owned and shot other P90's and 97's and fired the P220 before. And I own other Sig Sauer handguns. Depends on the purpose you want the gun for too I suppose. I lust after a stainless Sig Sauer P220.

the sig doesnt feel like holding a 2x4 glued to a brick.

Slim sexy and respected by military/ LE forces worldwide.....

IMO, the SIG is over-priced and the Ruger is under-priced. I shot both before I decided and chose the SIG. For me, the SIG felt better in my hand and I much preferred its trigger. You might think differently. Try both and, if you end up liking the Ruger better, you will save a lot of money going with it.

Merry Christmas all!

A comparison between a Rugar and a Sig is not possible.
A comparison between a Les Bear and a Sig now there is a possible comparison.
