Hey all,
Was just wondering if any of you guys had been to the SIG training site and if you found their classes to be worth the price of admission. I was on the range with a guy who had been through 3 of the different courses SIG offers, he said he was pretty lousy before he attended the classes and had no former Mil/LEO experience and when I saw him shooting his rifle and handguns I could definitely tell he had good training. He took "Defensive Carbine" "Precision Rifle LR" and "Defensive Pistol".

I'm not sure whether he went through different experience levels in each one i.e. "Defensive Pistol 101, 102, 103" but my quandary is this, the classes are expensive and I have been shooting and studying/practicing Defensive shooting techniques along with safe gun handling for over a decade and don't really want to spend $300/class along with the drive, lodging and ammo expenses to spend the day learning safe muzzle direction, how to load a magazine, holster/reholster and all the very basic entry level stuff, but I don't want to jump into an advanced class and find out I have overestimated my abilities. I just don't think it's worthwhile or appropriate that I would attend a class standing next to a bunch of people who just bought their first firearm and have never shot a gun.

Has anybody taken these classes? Could you shine a light on where you started and where somebody who is experienced with rifles and pistols should start. I would like to get some solid training and am willing to spend the money, I just don't want to waste a bunch of time and money on a 101 class and don't want to jump to a 103 to find out I'm lacking in skill and end up holding up the class.

I'm sure this might be better addressed to SIG directly, but I'm just curious if any of you guys have been to the SIG site and what you might be able to tell me about your experience....

Thanks

I have never been, but I know people who have. From what I've heard from military and LE who have trained there it is a very good program. Making people progress through their classes enables them to make sure that in each class everyone is on the same page. Nothing is worse than trying to take a more advanced class only to be held back by the slowest participants.
