SIG eliminated from ATF trials. S&W Vs. Glock.

The BATFE should be forced to use nothing but Lorcin, Jennings, Jiminez, and Raven firearms as punishment for being what they are. Those are made in America aren't they?
LOL! Just what I was thinking!:D

Come on SIG. P250? Really? :(

I don't see the M&P beating the Glock either. Fine with me, I like the Glock better too

I think SIG could pretty much only submit the P250 because of the requirement for a "handgun system."

I do wonder why Springfield Armory didn't submit the XD; AFAIK no major agencies have adopted that as their primary handgun (may have more to do with how ridiculously cheap they can get Glocks) and it would be good advertising for SA.

Even the P250 shouldn't have had that many non user induced stoppages. It doesn't sound like the testing was very objective or scientific, and I'm no Sig fanboy either.

All the mostly negative comments on the P250 have me wondering . . . . . . why would Sig maufacture and distribute something like the P250 if it's so sub-par?

I've heard it said that the P250 "system" was developed for countries where you can only have 1 gun, and since the serial number/"gun" part is the guts that get moved when you change calibers etc with all the different frames etc available, I guess it makes sense for those countries.

Fer myself, it's the only SIG I ever handled that just screamed cheap-I could't put it down fast enough!
The darn thing might function well (although there are reported problems on earlier units), but I can't ever see myself buying one. For the price to convert frames/calibers, I'd rather just buy another gun. If you're not interested in the modular concept, just looks like more to go wrong to me?

Didn't the Air Marshals or someone just drop their old SIGs and go with the 250-I'm pretty sure some agency did. :what: :banghead:

I've got to hand it to you anti-glock people. You guys never fail to mention koolaid and kabooms in every glock thread. Your hatred makes me think that maybe you resent Glock's success a bit. Maybe, just a little.

I don't think it's the Glock they hate! :D

I have nuttin' against 'em, but the grip just never worked for me.
Last newbie I helped out ended up with an XDSC-I didn't tell him to buy it, I just told him to use it as a baseline and if he found something interesting ask himself why would he prefer that over the XD? If he came up with compelling reasons, use that particular gun as his baseline and continue his search.

Saw him a few weeks later and asked him how it went-he said he ended up with the XD, but said he found out in a hurry what you did and didn't need on a gun.
He said every time he asked 'bout a particular feature not on the Glock, he was told "you don't need that on a gun-if you did, Gaston would have put it on there"! :scrutiny:

No. How many?

How many American jobs (and other) were created in response to the Glock pistol by the companies and business that produce the vast (more than most modern guns) array of aftermarket items for Glocks?

I don't know but given how many products are out there its not one or two.

But that's not an American gun? And has nothing to do with a Glock/SW koolaid match.

but said he found out in a hurry what you did and didn't need on a gun.

No what he needed or didn't need not what you needed or didn't need.

His needs being a "newbie" are not what everybody needs. He may need a grip safety to be safe. Others may not.

The P250 is probably the worst weapon SIG has put out in a long time. I understand the need for a pistol system, so Glock and the M&P are nice options that generally tend to work very well. The XD might be good too, but I've heard of and witnessed too many failures of the platform to think it would hold up well, pending the use/abuse the ATF subjects their sidearms to. Also, SIG and Glock both employ Americans in their factories here, don't have exact numbers, but I'd venture a guess in the hundreds. Same with Beretta, same with Springfield Armory, even with their pistol being made in Croatia, they need U.S. employees to handle things here.

Last I heard there is going to be a Glock Factory in the US. Not just an assembly plant. With the huge demand for Glocks, it deos make sense.

That being said the M&P is an awesome pistol. If the aftermarket embraces it as much as it has the Glock I can see the M&P being it's equal. There are allready trigge kits out there for the M&P last I checked. I'm a Glock/1911 guy, but the M&p has the same great low bore axis and low recoil.

But M&P's all have a little safety lever don't they? Not something you have to use with a striker fired weapon, but it's there. That would mak the M&P a good replacement for the M9 right???
