Sig M11A1 and MK25 Pistols - Chrome Lining Change?

I've got several friends that have both of these models and all of them have chrome-lined barrels. Those pistols are 2013 and before born-on dates.

I was in my LGS the other day examining an M11A1 and noticed that the barrel was from a standard P229, and was marked "P229-1" on the hood. Looking inside it was not chrome lined.

Did Sig make a change to these models and remove the chrome-lined barrel? I checked the website and there is no mention of it. I could have swore the specs used to advertise the chrome barrel, am I going crazy?

Sig owners - does your MK25 / M11A1 have a chrome bore?

since mine was just a couple feet away....mine is Jan-2012 and I dont think it is chrome lined.. has that dull grey color with the phosphorous coating.

I have a MK25, 2012 production I think. Definitely has the hard chromed bore.

BTW Tarosean, Hard to tell from your photos, but that first photo does look like a barrel with a hard chromed bore...

I have heard 2 different explanations:

1. Sig has never advertised the MK25 or M11A1 with a chrome-lined barrel. But due to shortages in stainless barrels during the 2012-2013 timeframe they substituted military barrels into the guns.

2. Sig intended both guns to come with chrome-lined barrels, but last year as a cost cutting measure switched them out.

Thoughts?

If you have bought either pistol recently and it came chrome-lined please post and let us know!

I'm not a much of a SIG guy, but I've not seen them advertised as having chrome-lined barrels and was surprised to see it mentioned in your first post.

The M11A1 I handled at a gun shop recently was made in early-mid 2013, didn't have a chrome lined barrel and the barrel had p229-1 written on the side of it.

It looks shiny in the pics but it really is a very dull gray colored ring, inside is blackish (even when clean)



also I dont think chrome lining would work with the phosphorous coating. ????
