I'm considering a Sig Sauer 1911 Target. I'd like to think a maker is going to stand behind their product.

How do Sig owners rate this company's customer service?

Thanks for your input.

Tom

I love their service. I bought a P220R late last year and loved it. Well I ought a P229R just a few months after. It had the E3 grips on it. I called Sig and asked if they made a kit for the P220 to convert it. They not only had it at my house in two days, but charged me only for shipping and handling. I cannot thank them enough. I haven't had an issue out of either so, I cannot comment on their repair.

Gosh, I'd rate SIG's customer service ... uh, wait a sec -- I've never had to use SIG's customer service ... even though I've owned 10 SIG-Sauer pistols ...

Strange, I've dealt with Colt, S&W, Springfield Armory and Beretta ... but only SIG and ... uh, Taurus (yep, I've bought a few of 'em) have never necessitated a call from me ...

Does this speak in favor of SIG? Otherwise, I guess I have nothing productive to add to this thread.

I guess I'd like to know, too ... But to the OP, I'd have to that (at least based on my experience) you can buy a SIG product with supreme confidence.

HA!! That's what I was going to say. I bought my first SIG P220 in '92/'93 and have bought seven more since then and have never had any reason to find out if SIG customer service is any good. Their pistols sure are good though!!

LOL same here.

I have the same info to add to this thread and my .40 S&W 226 DAK has dang near 9,000 rounds through it. Furthermore, I honestly cannot remember a single jam with the 226. The only maintenance I have ever done is cleaning and spring replacements after every 3,000 rounds. You can see in the pic the finish has quite a bit of wear near the muzzle from years of use in a Kydex holster.

The 1911 is new and I have about 800 rounds through it to date with no jams either.

The only problem I've ever had with any of my Sig's offer the years? I had a P290 mag that wouldn't trip the slide stop. They swapped it out, at once.

I have a new Sig "Fastback Carry" - same as the 1911 Nightmare above, but with no stainless highlights and wood grips.

Right off the bat, it was failing to lock the slide back on the last round out of the magazine. Any magazine, all the time, even after 600 rounds or so. One call to customer service and a new slide stop was on the way, which completely solved the issue.

The nice thing about the CS was, I actually got a real human on the phone right away, and he even gave me his personal email address to follow up.

I'd give the Sig customer service an "A"... and the pistol is flawless now.

I don't have a Sig pistol, but I do have a Sig rifle. I would rate their CS a B/B+. I had an issue, they paid for shipping both ways. Issue recurred, they paid for shipping both ways again. They turned it around quickly (maybe too quickly the first time!), but were non-responsive to questions about root cause of the problem.

So, other than needing two trips to make something right, nothing to complain about. Nothing to get jazzed about, either; no freebies, no "delight the customer" experience. This was about 4 years ago, no idea what they're like today.

I've owned half a dozen over 25 years, and carried them as duty weapons that long also. Never had a problem, nor knew of anyone who did.

My main go to off duty pistol now is a Sig 229 in double action only set up. None finer for me!

The guns and the company's after-sale service is first rate. It's not perfect, nothing is, but if the rest of the commercial world had customer service such as the shooting industry's, all the world's customers would be far happier people.

I have several Sigs, but had trouble with the second P226. The barrel must of been not to standard, as when I tried several different Bar-Sto barrels the POI changed 5".

Sig customer service was very poor. They absolutely denied that it could be a problem with their barrel. I ended up buying two different Bar-Sto barrels, a 9mm and a .357, and having the sights changed fit. Cost me an extra $400 on a $800 gun...

I bought a P228 in 1993, and several other new, CPO, used and even one surplus SIG in the years since then - (P6, P220 Carry, P220 Compact, P226 Navy, and P239). Never had any need for customer service.

I've owned a couple sigs but I've never had to use their C/S. I have, however, avoided their problematic models.

When I bought my P238 during the first year of production, there were lots of negative comments about Sig's customer service.

It was bad enough that I did not return my gun for service. Eventually, the fixes became available on the open market.

That said, I do not have first hand experience.

I have several SIG's, a few of which I returned for service or upgrades over a span of years. I primarily dealt with one customer service rep (Victoria) who was outstanding, and was always pleased with the quality of work and turnaround period.

My very first semi-auto which I purchased just after obtaining my CPL about four years ago was a SIG Pro SP2022 in .40 S&W. Brand new.

My second semi-auto that I ever purchased which was about 16 months ago was a SIG P250SC, also in .40 S&W. Brand new.

My third semi-auto which I bought about two hours ago was a SIG P239, again in .40 S&W. This one was used but the price was right and the seller is a good human being.

There has been absolutely no need whatsoever to contact SIG Sauer's Customer Service- we'll see about the one I just bought but I strongly suspect it will be just like the other two I have, dependable as a Slant Six MoPar engine.

Exemplary firearms IMO.

I have no complaints with them. I had a Sig P228 that had a plastic recoil guide in it. I called them and told them I'd like to have a metal recoil guide in the gun. They sent me one...free.
