Purchased a P220 Ernest Langdon this weekend. My dealer told me he had two of them several weeks ago when I was there shipping a gun and I told him I didn't want to see it (out of sight, out of mind). Well Saturday I was on my way to the gun show and stopped at Rays Sporting Goods just to browse (prices are too high but they have nice guns to look at) and there sat a P220-EL. I couldn't help but ask to see it.....and the rest is history. I called my dealer to see if he still had one and he did so after the gun show I went and picked it up!!! Was going to shoot it today and post pictures but got sidetracked with my "to do" list but will try to get to the range Wednesday.

As far as fit and finish...looks fabulous to me. I really like the options on this gun....2 tone, short trigger, Nill grips, fiber optic sight. In fact, I want to find some Nill grips for my P226 Sport Stock.

I was down to one .45 cal (Colt Special Combat Government Competition) due to trouble with arthritis but I couldn't pass this SIG up....it's just flat out gorgeous (to me).

I have a X200 light on my Beretta Storm that I'm hoping will fit the P220 rail. I'll check that out tonight.

Will post a range report and pics by this weekend.....:D

Here's a few:

The matter of "looks" are personal preference -- I won't comment. But several of my shooting friends have had Ernie Langdon work over their SIGs, and I can only say, "WOW!"

I've also had several SIGs, and they're fine guns, but they've never really stoked my fire.

I've recently handled 4-5 of Ernies guns, now, and fired two -- and they had some of the finest trigger work I've ever encountered in a DA/SA gun.

If ever I get a SIG again (and its now more likely than once was the case), I'll try to get him to do the trigger work.

If this gun is typical of his after-market work, then you've got one heck of a shooter.

I'm not sure that the trigger is anything like an aftermarket "Ernie" job. In fact, after I run a few hundred rounds or so through the gun I may send the gun in for a Level I or II action job by EL. This gun will be one of my "house" guns and of course go to the range with me but I don't compete so I may or may not make any changes to it. I have three SIGs now and if asked a year ago about SIGs I would have said that I didn't own any and didn't plan to. Now I own a P226 Sport Stock, P232SL and this P220 EL. I have a very bad feeling that the XFive is in my future and maybe even one of those darn 250DC if and when they get to the US (DA/SA variation).

Good grief.....yes I may have to go to counseling for this addiction indeed.

I have the Sig 220ST and looked at the Langdon gun was nice looking. But dont see how it could be worth 300.00 more than my ST they were going for 1000.00 around here. So I passed it up. And came with no trigger job either had to send it back for another 125 -150 for that to be done. Good Luck with yours.

Yep.....I wouldn't pay $1000 + tax but I did pay $873 + tax which came out to be $939. It was worth it to me because I don't do after market finish jobs, etc on my guns and as such, the factory two tone, Nill grips and short trigger are the three options that I definitely wanted. Obvioiusly "finish" and a few other fluff and buff items don't affect the performance of the gun.....but I have to like the "looks" of the gun also and in this market there's no reason for me to buy what I consider an "ugly" gun (understanding that everyone has different likes and opinions as to what is "nice" and what is "ugly"....I have a friend that wouldn't take any SIG if I gave it to her). So performance-wise the extra options are probably not worth it but I like it and hope it performs well this week at the range.

The 220ST is a very nice gun also. I did think about one but only because I don't like rails on guns. In fact a rail and front cocking serrations are on my "don't buy" list. But something about the two tone swayed me.......so my friends were surprised that I bought a gun with both a rail and front cocking serrations (although the serrations are barely noticeable).

shooter45: so, how was the action job on your P220ST? I assume EL did it or did it go back to the SIG shop? If EL did it, which one did you get?

QB,

For that price I probably would have bought it also.. I did not get a action job done on mine was going to but its actually not bad. I meant the EL model did not come with a action job. You would think that it would have already been done thats why I did not want to pay 1000.00 for it. I am sure you will like it. I did like the front sight though pretty cool bright too..

Would have been nice to have the action job right from the factory......I HATE shipping my guns and try to avoid it if at all possible. Plus since I have my FFL ship them, even if the shipping is already paid I'm out $30 for the transfer fees for sending and receiving ($15 each way). Guess I should sometime just go ahead and try to ship one myself but the horror stories I've heard about UPS make me just go ahead and shell out the FFL transfer fee.

Good shooting with your P220ST!!!!!

Another pic. I use this X200A on my Beretta Storm but will try it out on the P220 this week. Hopefully it will stay secure on the rail during the range session.
