I recently bought a Sig P230 SL for a summer carry gun. It's stamped Exeter, NH, so it was built somewhere between 1990, when Sig moved there and 1996, when the P230 left the lineup for the 1997 introduction of the P232.
All I have to say is this is a fantastic little gun.
DA trigger is heavy, but smooth and it breaks cleanly. The SA trigger breaks like a glass rod, simply beautiful. Recoil is snappy, but minimal, feels like a baby .40 to me, as opposed to 9mm Parabellum or .45 ACP which are more of a "push" IMO. No issues with reliability, it fed just fine with American Eagle FMJ (will be trying other ammo some other time), which, honestly, doesn't say too much since ball ammo should never have hang-ups unless there is a malfunction.
Accuracy is fantastic. The P230 shoots POA at 7 yards, and I figure that's just fine since I don't figure on ever using it at a longer range than that. (Actually, I hope I never use it outside of the range, but I think that goes without saying.) The recommendation when buying it was "Sigs like to run wet", which turned out to be an overstatement. Going forward, I'll be oiling it the same way I oil my M&P 40.
It also conceals very well and is incredibly comfortable to carry. Fit and finish are very high, it definitely screams "Swiss-German".
Overall I could not be happier with the little Sig. Say what you will about .380, but any gun is better than no gun and the P230 is comfortable enough that I'll carry it and handles well enough that I shoot it well, which is more than I can say for the single-stack Kahrs that I tried.
Anyone looking for a .380 would do well, IMO, to consider the P230 and P232. Fantastic CCW options.
