My local gunshop is selling a used one with the trigger lock, Custom Rubber Grip ,and two mags. for $485 +taxes and $10 background check.

Is this a good deal ?

The gun was carried by an off duty cop..it has slight wear...especually on the outside blueing from holster wear ......

Does not seem like a bad deal to me. But at $10 background check fee? ***? Those should be free. Looks like the owner wants to get paid for the time it takes to make a sale.

$10 backgroud fee ???

maryland gunshops have been doing this ripoff procedure for decades !!!
where have you been ?? LOL !

Never experienced background check fee in AK in any of the shops.

If I were to purchase a used gun, I'd offer less. If it is on consignment, the shop owner can call a gun owner to see if he would accept and maybe conduct negotiation for you. If the shop owns the gun, they might discount, especially if you pay cash. This is neither bad, nor a smoking deal. If he does not go for it, you can always try this method elsewhere.

Sigman, the price is decent. If you can get them to lower it, so much the better. If you do purchase it and want more mags, check out Top Gun Supply online. They often have used Sig mags for sale for a very attractive price. I bought 4 more for my P239/357Sig that had never been out of the plastic bag. They were still all sticky. BTW: I really love my P239.

I paid $427 delivered NIB for my 239 in .40.. but that was a long time ago. :D

I would go $400 as top offer. Good pistol and good caliber with ammo being relatively cheap. That said, the p229 and some of the newer tupperware pistols are a more versatile pistol and usually would cost about the same as that p239. Based on experience (...what you get when you don't get what you want.) the p239 doesn't completely fill the niche intended as a concealed carry gun nor is it as good a shooter as the slightly larger SIG models. At the high $400s, there are brand new Glocks and SA XDs aplenty that fill the intended role of a CCW gun better than the p239.

The 239 will shoot circles around most of the Glock and XD models made. How could either fill the role better when the 239 has a small single stack grip which is the most important part when it comes to concealment.
