Does anybody know why the Sig P239 uses different mags for .40s&w and the .357sig  Has anybody tried to shoot both using the same mag? The P229 and P226 mags are the same. I can't figure out why there is a difference for the P239 unless it has something to do with the single stack design :scrutiny: Sigs website doesn't give any reasons. Thanks

All .40 S&W 239 magazines will function fine with .357 SIG rounds, the opposite is not true. Dennis

Blind, the P239 40 S&W mag will readily accept 357 SIG ammo, but the 357 SIG mag will not accept 40 S&W ammo because the 357 has 2 indented lines in the bullet area of the mag. This prevents the 40 cal ammo from being put in the mag. I don't see any real reason for there to be a difference, but if you want to shoot 40 cal ammo, you will have to buy the 40 cal mags. In not so many words, just buy 40 cal mags and be done with it. I have not had any problems of any kind using my 40 cal mags with 357 SIG ammo. Hope this paragraph helps you. LOL:)

Thanks, I'll try it today. I bought a used P239 in .40s&w and it came with a .357sig barrel and 3 .40 mags, no .357 mags. The .357 barrel had been shot so I guessed that it would work. I was looking (drooling) at Sigs website and noticed they sold .40 mags and .357 mags for only the P239. I have a P229 .40 and it uses the same mags. I looked at the manual for the P239 and it says in red letters .40 mags and .357 mags are different. I couldn't understand why P239 and P229 would be different. THANKS for your replies! :)
