What's a beat tester?

Its what Sig calls people who buy their Gen 1 product.... Beat Beta... if you know Sig you know what I mean.

Sig took a flawed design for 380 auto and released a flawed 380 auto product which they are now converting into 9mm....

LOL :barf:

Well, broheim, I've never owned a Sig. I've owned Glocks, Springfields and a CZ and they've been 100%.

As for being a BETA tester, yeah, that would suck. I've never been one when it comes to guns. All I know is that my buddy and his wife both have P238s, and I've shot the snot out of both of them, and they've been flawless.

welllllllllllllllll ... I kinda like it
And as much as I detest .380, the Mrs likes her P238 (bought because she liked it and promised to actually carry it on-body, not because it was a .380 or a Sig)

I'll have to check out this little toy when it becomes available, are we looking at SA EMP prices or Sig P238 prices?

Will it take a proprietary mag, or a 9mm 1911 mag (looks like a special sig-only mag, bummer)
Is the ambi safety lever an option or mandatory? (don't want/need a wrong-side schmafety lever)
Weight?
Can it eat +P?

Which of the 5 generations do they have?

Well, those pics are somewhat disappointing. I knew it would look kind of like a larger P238, but it looks exactly like a P238. Judging from the ankle holster pic, I'd say it will be around Kimber Solo size. My local dealer was able to look up prices on the 938 and said it would wholesale around $700-800.

Neat gun, but my P238 burned me on little .380's with safeties. My LCP has a worse trigger but is more reliable. Don't have to worry about any of that if I just carry a 5-shot revolver.

Ah......Sig's version of what the Colt Pocket Nine should have been. I was wondering when they'd eventually produce it.

Now for the beta testing to commence:uhoh:

I have no clue, as they're not my guns. Purchased mid-2011 I think he said.

So what do you shoot?

More than likely Gen 4 or 5 you can tell by the width of the slide. Thicker = newer.

I shoot a lot of stuff....

Mainly 1911s, Browning Hi Powers & Sigs. Have a few CZs, Kahr, S&W etc...

I prefer steel or alum to poly but poly guns have their place.

Looking forward to seeing it on the shelves. My P238 has never had a hiccup and although mine originally came with the latest magazine, it came with the 3rd. oldest recoil spring.

If the 938 is as good of a shooting pistol as the 238, I may have to get one.

The P938 (9mm) is on top, the P238 (.380) is on bottom:

It might just be the angles, but the guns look almost identical in size. If it's reliable, this thing just shot to the top of my MUST BUY list.

The video here shows a slightly better view of the P238 and 938 next to each other. The 938 is slightly bigger and it looks like they went with an external extractor. I'm really excited about this one and although my 238 has been flawless, I have a feeling I will be waiting for reviews and possible updates.

Wow! thats an exciting new release!

Im definitly interested, i really hope the gun functions as nice as most sig's do.

Ive handled a P238 and liked the feel, but ive never been overly excited by the .380 round. I know today its become a better self defense round but, id still prefer ATLEAST a 9mm as a carry round.

There have been five generations of 238 already?

That's more than one revamp per year it's been out!

Yup... and each one was introduced to correct a known problem. Yet not a single recall on the product. No mass shipment of upgrade replacement parts to existing owners. If you had a problem and called Sig they would fix it but not tell you that the current models were not the same as your older one. The last change was the slide. All P238 now ship with what used to be the HD slide. It is thicker and the gun needs its additional weight in order to function at its best.

Consumer Beta testing at its best. LOL

Good Lord! It's as small as I was hoping it would be! Only a touch bigger than the .380 version.

I'll gladly be Sigs beta tester to get my hands on this, might even let my P238 go to a buddy whos been asking to buy it for a while. Then I can stop buying .380.

Yeah I'll jump on it after it's been around for a little while too.

My P238 has been perfect and if the P938 is even close to the P238 I'll have to have one.

Honestly, I don't really care how many generations the P238 went through. If the 938 is right for 9mm and is bug free, I'll buy one.
