Sig Pro or Sig P239?

I've decided my next purchase is either going to be a Sig Pro or Sig P239. I can get the Sig Pro for as little as $469 and the P239 for a little as $569 around here. Are these alright prices? Which would you go with? Advantages and disadvantages of each? Also didn't someone say all newer Sig's come in the blue case and older one's came in a black one? Which color case should these two come in?

I think alot of it depends on your use. If you are buying it as a concealed carry piece I would go with the 239. For general home defense use I would go for the Sig Pro.

I own a SigPro 2340 and have shot the 239 many times. The 239 is smaller then then pro. THe grip is also smaller so if you have really small hands you might prefer the 239. I have smaller hands and actually like the Sig pro grip Of course it also doesn't hold as many rounds as the sig pro. For home defense you can mount a tactical light on the Pro if you desire.

A lot of die hard sig fans dislike the pro. I do not understand why. I love mine, the SA trigger pull is about perfect and the double action is great also. Accuracy is great on both pistols.

I picked up my Sig Pro as a blue line model so it came with night sights and 3 magazines. I paid $550 out the door, probably more then I could have found if I were to shop around but when I find a gun that I want I just buy it. Plus, it was the cheapest price in the area.

I think the bottom line depends on your intended usage. If you intend to use it for CC then get the 239 if not get the Sig Pro. Either way you won't be disappointed.

I prefer the metal SIGs vs. their poly guns. Go w/ the 239

I have a 239 and think it is an absolutely spectacular pistol that is extremely accurate even for it's size. My vote is for steel. Go 239.

The PROs are nice guns but I don't like the take down, personally I don't care for double stacks and the fact there is absolutely no way to get more than 10 round magazines brings me back to just buying the 239. Besides SIGs should be made from steel I don't have anything against polymer just SIGs in polymer. It just isn't right. Kind of like a Porsche SUV.

A better apples to apples comparison would be the 228/229 though. Check into those. The 228 is one of the finest 9mm out there and I have seen them for decent prices $500-$550.

My Sig Pro and both of my P239s came in the newer blue case. All three were purchased in 2002.

Best ccw gun I could find..It's light,25.2 oz in 9mm,thin 1.2",accurate (even for me) and probably no more reliable gun anywhere and should the time arrive that you ever need it, then reliability will the biggest priority...Well anyway, I am not the gun expert by any stretch of the imagination,but check it out before you buy anything else..

Sig 239

Been a great gun for me.

I don't care for the Sig Pro 2009, we bought one for the wife and I can't shoot it very well. It feels loose, Plus I don't care for the grip on it.

I can't speak to the SIG PRO but I have a 239 in 357, it's a mean machine. I am considering a 239 in 9mm because I like it so much.

If you think you're conna carry it, get the 239.
For home defense, the sig pro would also be a fine choice.

I wish I could say that I owned a Sig but I can't afford it.

I do remember a good friend of mine that works at one of Houston largest gun shops stating that Sig Pro's have had a lot of problems with their firing mechanisms.

He said that many that have been sold, have came back for repair work.

As for Sigs, I would love to have one, but maybe not the pro series.

Not much wrong with the SiGPro but there's NOTHING wrong with the P239.

SiG P239 9mm with a Hogue soft rubber finger groove grip, load with Golden Saber Bonded 124 grain +P or any other quality +P JHP and you've got yourself a world class set up.

I've seen the 239 for closer to $500, but I don't live where you do.

The 239 seems like a bargain when you compare its construction to the $700 226 and other classics. I guess making it here keeps costs down.

A dealer in Reno was selling the Pro for $399. If he can sell it for that, other dealers can come close. I would have a very hard time paying more than $440 for one (if I could get over its enourmous back strap and general homeliness).

I've also seen 228s going for $600. If you can find them, Mecgar hicaps aren't too pricey and are factory reliable. No hicaps for the Pro.

It's the nitrone (blued?) covered stainless steel one in 9mm. I was really unsure about which caliber I was going to get all the way up to the actual purchase today. I finally decided on 9mm due to the fact that it hold's one more round and the fact that this gun is really small. I'm usually a .40/357 Sig guy but 9mm just seemed better for this small of gun due to recoil/accuracy concern's. I got it without night sight's as I will get the brand night sight's I want at a later date.

That's the one I have. I will have to check out the 10 round magazine's. I was unaware that they made them. By the way mine came with three magazine's. Is this normal? Thanks.

Two magazines is normal for the P239, so I guess you got a little bonus.

Your P-239 is twin-sister to mine..Love it, Love it...I shot a couple boxes of Winchester 115gr jhp yesterday,the more I practice the more accurate it becomes..By the way you can get the ammo at wal-mart for 10.97 box of 50.That's another good reason to select the 9mm other than the lighter weight than .40...Now all you need to do is contact Wild bills concealment and pick out a good holster and you are in business...
