Okay, yes, I should have thought a little bit more about this. I should have done more research. Too late now. I'd like to make it work now that I have it in hand.

S&W M&P CORE came with adapter plates, but none fit the R1. (I got the plain, no mounts, R1.)

An online search has shown a bunch of people carry an adapter, SOR1MK012, which according to some pictures fits in the CORE cutout, but other pictures show it as a rear sight mount. I'm assuming the person putting this in the catalogs didn't know the difference. ( want the cutout plate to co-witness the dot.)

BUT THEY COST $50 ! ! ! For this little plate.

Anybody have another source?
What about the Sig Adapter Kit? I can't find it on-line. Do I just call Sig? (I mean, like, you know, actually try to talk to somebody?)

Here's a typical retailer link.

I bought a CORE last week and determined that one of the supplied plates would work with my FF3 sight.

The link you've provided certainly looks to be a rear sight dovetail mount similar to what I'm using on my other pistols. It probably fits over the plastic plate that's installed on the slide when received from the factory.

Found this on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/p/Sig-Sauer-Romeo1-Handgun-Mount-Kit-SOR1MK012-S-w-Core/19020952853

Sorry I didn't follow up. The plate I bought is the official sig plate for the M&P core. It fits in the cutout, not in the rear sight slot. Only put 150 round though it, but so far so good. Just wish it didn't cost so much.

Retailers sometimes just use stock pictures and don't pay attention to these little details.

Great. Glad you found what you needed. The dovetail mounts I'm using were made by OuterImpact and are not made for the slide cut on the CORE. But they work great on my other pistols.
