It certainly does not jive with the fact that SIG was stating that users with 40,000 rounds may not experience the need for a new main spring yet. Last I checked 40,000 was 10,000 more than the 30,000 rounds that you site.
Being a member and reader of the SIG forum for years I have read reports of at least a couple hundred members with very high round count alloy frame SIGs - many who are competitve shooters. And more to the point I have heard of "maybe" a single frame failure in a modern SIG and that could have been neglect or overpowered loads. With over 65,000 engaged members of the SIG forum (many who joined to discuss problems with their SIGS) that is pretty amazing as IF there was a problem with early frame failures in SIGs it would be widely discussed (they discuss every other little problem) instead of virtually never discussed as a problem or even remotely considered to be a problem with alloy frame SIGs that are well maintained. I do remeber on occasion when members did discuss the frame life of an alloy SIG and the forum members that were SIG armorers saying to expect at LEAST 60,000 round life on an alloy frame SIG that was well maintained which the SIG forum has discussions on proper maintenance all the time.
It certainly looks as if we have to agree to disagree.
Anyone who is concerned with the frame life of an alloy frame SIG should do their own research and that could include posting such a question on the SIG forum where it is almost guaranteed that they will get educated and informative replies from forum member SIG armorers themselves with a ton of experience and most likely Bruce Gray himself rather that 2 members debating in this thread.
