I have been reading this forum for several months now tring to decide on a handgun, due to the fact that this will be my home defense, self defense and range gun (funds don't allow more than 1 gun at this time) I have decided on the 9mm because of price of ammo. Between these three, which one do you think will be the best and give me your reasons why. Also the price of the guns in my area are almost the same, so gun price is not an issue. Thanks in advance for the help!

Tarheel,
1...welcome to The high road

2...get the CZ-P01...I got my "loaner" P-01 from CZ yesterday afternoon...gonna take it to the range on Monday...Looks and feels GREAT!!!!

where from in NC??

Azrael, Thanks for the reply! I live in a small town Indian Trail, near Charlotte. Why do you like the CZ better?

Sig sells the Pro a couple of ways. One is with no replacement grip straps, etc. Basically just the gun and one mag. That's what you are buying at that price new, which is still a good price!

The CZ and the plastic sig are evenly matched.
Neither of them has received the recognition they deserve.
I'd say the CZ has an advantage in natural pointability.

I would go with the Sig Pro....

But then, when in doubt always go with the Sig....

Just my .02 (I am sure that you would be happy with the Sig or the CZ).

When I bought my SIG Pro, I got the 'Blue Line Special' which is marked 'Blue Line' on the top of the slide and came with three mags but only the one grip panel. $450 was the asking price. At the same time, he had the non-Blue Line version which had two mags and two grip panels for about $530. I don't think I've ever seen one for more than $530.

Around here, CZs range from $380 (standard 75s, SAs and BDs) to $440 (P01, RAMI). Sp they aren't quite an apples and oranges comparison... I figure discounting the Blue Line, you can either get a the SIG Pro with two 10 round mags or a CZ75B with two 10 round mags, two 15+ round mags and a High Noon holster. Different areas will differ of course.

Between the guns, I had a SIG Pro and sold it within a couple months, preferring the G23 for the similar role. I love CZs and have probably owned six of them and have a PCR on the way. For my desires, there is just no comparison. I would out the 228 or 229 on par with the PCR/P01 and then the prices are dramatically different. I just prefer CZs I guess... Not blind to the plusses of SIG, just the CZs feel much for comfortable to me and are basically just as realiable at a lower price point.

Bersas aren't in the same league... In my opinion.

I'd get the cz.....what pushes it over the top for me, in addition to everything mentioned, is the availability of 14 round mags for the cz, you can't get em for the sig(unless you are LEO).......tom

i just received my 9mm sigpro last nite i love it i plan on buying a cz compact in 9mm or 40 of your choices i d stick with sig or cz you wont go wrong

I love my CZ 75 P-01. IMHO this is the best 9mm out there today. You absolutely can't go wrong with a CZ. Just to help sway you, here is a pic of mine. :D

Well both guns are very nice. CZ's are very good shooters for the money and beyond that also. The Sig Pro is the 'bottom of the Sig line" which is really nothing to the negative...but in overall quality, Id have to side with the PO1. Its more an equal to a 229 than a Pro IMO at least from what Ive shot and owned.
Take it for what its worth.. Both are excellent guns.
Shoot well.

I have both the SigPro in 9mm and the CZ P-01 (9 mm) and it's a toss up. The CZ feels a bit better in the hand but both shoot exceptionally well. The triggers are both outstanding and I think they both point well. It is basically up to you and how they feel in the hand. I think you'll enjoy either one. For comparison, the Bersas I've handled (not shoot) are nice but not in the same league, as mentioned.

Thanks for all the comments and help! Went to the shop this morning and they had both the CZ and the SigPro in stock, handled both and they both felt very good to me! The CZ-Po1 was $450 with 2 mags and the SigPro was $389 with 2 mags also. My son will turn 15 next month and he loves to shoot, so I let him handle both guns and he liked the SigPro better, so know I am the proud owner of my first Sig! This is my first semi-auto, I have owned a S&W revolver before, is there a place on the web that tells the proper way to clean and lube my new gun? Also what is the best holster and way to carry this gun CCW? What is the best self-defense round to keep in the gun at home with my two teenage children (that know the proper way handle the gun) in adjacent rooms? And again thanks for all the help!:) :)

My CZ P-01 has at least 500 rounds through it now. Just put another 150 through it yesterday and it was flawless!!!

BUT! If your looking for a home self defense gun to defend your families life and yours what I use is a Ruger P90 .45......
Just as reliable as the P-01 with more punch...
This gun also ran flawlessly yesterday with about 100rds through it......

Many people use the Ruger .45 as the benchmark for home defense next to the 12 gauge shot gun.....drf

Just one thing to think about the Sig and the CZ. Both are high quality pistols for the price but with Sig your chance of having a good trigger out of the box is higher than with the CZ. Nothing against CZ, but the trigger on a Sig is hard to beat and the SigPro is a great value for less than $400 if it feels good in YOUR hand. You will do well which ever one you decide. Good Luck with your new pistol.

Which holster to use?? wow why not ask which is better..the AR15 or the AK?? :D

Best defense round?? hmm...I like the Speer Golddot 124+P, although I am trying the new corbon Powerball in my P-11's right now, but the jury is out...I am told that you can order them (124+p's)from Georgia Arms for a cheaper price..
