I seem to have a problem with powder sticking to my powder pan. It is the OEM pan that came with my RCBS 750 digital scale. It seems like when ever I use 231 or similar shaped powder, it sticks to the pan after I drain it back into the powder measure. I was was using my finger to wipe it clean. Then, I noticed I had a nice, thin layer of grey powder residue on it that seemed to stick pretty well to the pan. The pan started to weigh 0.1 grain more as the residue grew.

I was wondering if anyone had any advice to get rid of what appears to be a static electricity charge on the pan..?

Has anyone had the same problem.? Or is this just some anomoly or something not to worry about.?

I purchased a RCBS powder funnel several years ago that had major static issues. Being as smart as I am, I decided I could get rid of the static by rubbing with bore cleaner. That didn't work, so I tried other solvents. Then I tried lightly toasting it with a torch. Somewhere along the way, the static problem was gone. Yes, I really did all this!

Then someone pointed out that a dryer sheet would remove the static. Seems that works too!

Try washing them with Dawn dishwashing liquid and let them air dry. It's supposed to leave a film that dissipates static. I don't remember where I read that but I tried it and it seems to work.

How about rubbing your funnel/pan/whatever with a dryer sheet? Then your power will even smell nice and fresh :)

Wash it with rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball.

A light spritz of Static Guard, or a dryer sheet might also work.
But sometimes it doesn't, and the rubbing alcohol does the trick.

The gray residue is graphite coating from the powder.
It is not the problem.
In fact, it helps to prevent powder from sticking to things.

Just get the static stopped one way or another, and then re-zero the scales when the pan reaches it's normal operating weight.

Dishwashing liquid used to be the old remedy for powder funnels - wash, don't rinse all the soap off and let dry.
If I had the problem today, I would try the dryer sheets first.
