Much depends on your location. We simply don't have anything larger than deer and while there are a great many of them, you are far more likely to run into a pack of turkeys. You can spend all day hunting deer without seeing a single one, or you can spend a few hours filling your freezer with small game.
Don't get me wrong, I much prefer to hunt small game with .22 rifles, or even pistols. It's more fun and more challenging. I specifically don't hunt rabbits and squirrels with shotguns because it, quite frankly, is too easy. Of course, at present, I have the luxury of doing it however I please. If it was a life or death situation, I'd probably take the shotgun about every time along with a big bore pistol if I did happen upon some whitetail.
At any rate, all this talk has me anxious to get out there. I'm heading to the woods!
