Got into the office this morning and sitting on my desk was a USPS Express Mail box from Prescott Arizona.

Inside was a Simply Rugged Sourdough for my 2.5" Dan Wesson 14-2.

First impressions are that its a well stitched, nice heavy leather, well molded holster (and I happen to dig the color).

So I stuffed my roscoe in the leather. It was pretty tight (but after spending the night with my gun in a plastic bag stuffed in it it'll be just right).

I put the holster on and it fit nice.

But all along the plan was to convert it to an IWB with spring steel belt clips so I mounted the clips …

and here it is in the pants …

Overall I'm pretty happy with it. Its well made and should last longer than I do. I've read comments by others claiming that the quality of Simply Rugged holsters has slipped over the years, if thats the case the early ones must be freakin' awesome.

Ordered the clips from High Desert Leather http://www.highdesertleather.com/id74.html

To mount them, drill a hole in the back side of the clip (which is a pain because the spring steel is HARD ... I need to invest in a drill press).

Mount them in the belt slots (so very adjustable) using Chicago Screws and big washers.

Your holster looks very nice. I've been considering a Simply Rugged Cuda for my 1911 for a while.

Which picture is the most accurate representation of the color of your holster. I know different lighting can make pictures look quite a bit different and the color in each picture seems different. The range of color seems to run from an almost red, through deep burgundy, to rusty brown.

I've got one of these SR Pancakes for my Ruger Security Six, 4". I've also got the inside/out straps to turn it into an IWB holster. It's a good holster for a good price.

I have two of these pancakes, same color as this one and they are great holsters. What surprised me, being open tops, is how well the gun stays in the holster. I've slid down slopes, clambered over boulders and trees but the gun stays put. Very comfortable and the carry is high and tight.

I have a Cuda for my XD-45 and it's great for OWB carry. That Sourdough looks good too - I think my S&W 629 needs one!

Zundfolge, thanks for the review. Just placed my order. Looks like the free IWB straps are in honor of Arizona's new "Constitutional Carry" law. Ordered mine for a 3" S&W 629.

How long was your wait from order to delivery?

I ordered mine on March 15th and got it on April 19th. So 5 weeks exactly. Which for those of you that have not ordered custom leather before, is pretty quick (a lot of holster makers would have you wait 5 MONTHS ... actually I think Milt Sparks' current wait is half a year).

I ordered my sourdough for my GP-100 and got it in 8 days. Love the holster, great piece of leather. I think i'll order a cuda for my XD45 soon, especially with the free IWB straps.

I bought a right-handed one for my K-frames that looks and fits and works beautifully. Then I bought a left-handed one to get in touch with my inner southpaw. That one is much wider and doesn't fit between my belt buckles like the other does. It makes my belt and waist band stick out awkwardly. I contacted Rob Leahy and he immediately offered to build me a new one based on the outline of the first one. Rob is one of the Good Guys. I told him I'd try to work with this one, and will send it back if I can't make it work.

I had my Silver Dollar in about a week. Great holsters. The color isn't too bad either. With a good belt, it holds high and tight with no sag and it actually takes effort to make the revolver come out. They are great holsters all around,

Just recieved mine yesterday for my Alaskan. 20 days from order till recieved. Good quality, looks like it will last a life time.
