Single Action ZIG226? Any problems?

If I had the money I would be all over a SAO P226. :) The P220 SAO has been out for some time, but .45 costs more to shoot. The long double-action reach and pull did not work out well for me, but a SAO solves that.

Should he have any concerns about cracking slides or any malfunctions (the stories about the 228 have his worried)?
What stories are those?

Are you referring to the X-five? SIG doesn't make a SAO, plane 226 that I've ever seen.

X-fives are longer than standard 226's, and have much better triggers. They are also all German made. I haven't heard of any systemic problems with them.

Why doesn't SIG make a plain Jane SAO 226 or 229 or, well, pretty much anything else in addition to 220?

I would like a P226 SAO.

They are now showing an X- Five Short... from the Sauer Masterwork shop at an even higher price than the original.

Phooey.

I think Sig-Sauer makes good guns but they seem out of touch with the market. At least my end of it.

I'm with Jim on this one. A plain 226 SAO would be a wonderful addition to the lineup (assuming they get the QC right). I'd sell off some of my DA/SA's to fund a purchase if needed to.

The X-five short is interesting, but has target sights and the adjustable, and quite light, trigger, both of which pretty much keep it out of the carry/ccw style of role. Thus, thanks but no-thanks from me. I just don't need any more target guns. Especially given the costs of the X-five.

I should have also mentioned in my original post on this that the X-five has a few other differences from a standard 226. The x-five's barrel is heavier (a bull type barrel) and the grip is different too.

At a range I recently shot a SIG Sauer P220 Sport. It did not resemble the old P220; it had a big weight on it and was a dream to shoot! Perfect trigger, if I ever squeezed one.
