I see the 239 recommended a bit for CCW, and when I check out Sigs site, I see the 229 is only slightly larger, typically quarter inch in a direction, no more than half an inch.

How much does that make a difference? Seems the extra 3 rounds would make up for the difference, unless the 239 is already considered a bit large for CCW.

Also the P6 is single stack too, and the descriptions I've seen say it is compact, but I can't find actual dimensions. How does it's size compare to the other two?

Thanks

I have all three. Size wise, they are all very similar. Pick the one that feels the best in your hand and you shoot the best with. Carrying makes no difference.

SIG has a weird idea as to what "compact" is. There is really little difference between most of their pistols, except for the P230/232's.

Try here for the P6/P225 stats....

I've got a P6 and a 229SCT, the 229 is slightly bigger in the grip, frame and slide width. Both feel good though.

I've got a P6 and a P239. The P239 is more comfortable for IWB due to the general roundyness of the shape and a tad smaller. Basically, I prefer a single-stack Sig because it weighs less loaded than a doublestack, and with 8 rounds on tap (versus 5 or 6 in a revolver) I feel adequately protected versus a doublestack or a revolver.

Here are some pictures that might help with the size difference between a P239 and a P225 (same size as a P6).
The P239 has the finger grove grips.

I don't have any size comparison pictures between a P239 and a P229 (I'll have to take some). The actual size of a P229 is very similar to the P225. The big difference is in the thickness of the P229s grip since it uses a double stack magazine and of course along with that, in the added weight of the additional ammo.

Compact, sub compact, full size, micro mouse compact, etc, it's all subjective and a matter of opinion.

Like AK said, Sig's idea of what is a compact sized gun makes you really wonder.

P239, P225 / P6s, and P229s are common enough. Go hold them and or shoot them and decide for yourself which is the best fit for you.

If you can't carry one well, the other two will be too big. They're all very similar.

The P225/6 has a cult following, people either love it or don't see a need for one. Like the Browning Hi-Power, it points naturally, balances, and carries well.

Make sure you hold each weapon before deciding, they all feel very different in the hand.
