I have a Skinner Barrel Mounted Peep on my Marlin 39A and love it. Factory height on front sight is good with it. I seem to shoot pretty well (for me) with it.
Last week I bought a new Ruger 10/22-RB Carbine, shot it for the first time yesterday. I did terrible shooting it, I seemed to be shooting about 2" ~ 3" high. (25 & 50 yds) I adjusted the rear factory sight down a notch, didn't change much. These old eyes just can't see that notch in factory flip-down rear sight. I think what is happening is I am raising the front sight UP so I can 'see' it and just aiming high.
Plus the morning sun was in my face/eyes & my target was on the shadow side, which was no help! (my excuse anyway!)
There, I've done it! Enough excuses to justify the purchase of a new "Skinner" peep sight for my 10/22! I'm going to his webpage and order it the first thing this morning.
I like the idea of the barrel dovetail mount best, seems stronger & less obtrusive.
If it works half as well as the one on my 39A I'll be happy! ;-)
