Hello all!
This being my first post here, I would like to say that I am proud to be part of what I consider the best firearms related forum on the web.
Now for my question. I bought a Norinco SKS a couple of years ago (all matching numbers) and thus far has served me well. I can make regular hits on cans at 100 yards offhand on good days. I have a nice red dot sight that needs a home (took it off my Ruger MK2) and feel it would do well on the SKS. The rifle has a dovetail rail that appears to be riveted to the left side of the reciever that must be able to accept some sort of scope mount. This would seem to be the best way of scoping the SKS but I can't find the mount anywhere! Can anyone help?

Welcome!! :) A ''warbird'' fan I am thinkin!

I can't give actual source right now but - my Norinco has a replacement recoil spring cover ... which has suitable mounts for Weaver rings .. I slammed my red dot on this ... works good.

I think a look around at Natchez.com might yield an option .... not too hard to find ... just that right now I can't tell ya exactly where!!! :p Someone else may - be patient - it'll soon be sorted!

Choate makes it.

This is probably what you are looking for. The one on the right is one I use on a paratrooper. They are for short 1" scopes. They are pretty rare. The choate scope mount is different. It doesn't use a rail, it mounts direrctly to the receiver. Welcom to the forum. Mark

Thanks for the help! Railroader, the mount you're showing looks like what I need, but I'm not certain if I can use it (my sight uses 30mm rings). Can you get 30mm's for it? And yes, being a bit old fashioned, I find the old WW2 planes to be the "sexiest" ever made (especially the Mustang). Anyway, thanks again for the help; I might check around the next gun show for mounting options.
