Slugs or Sabots?

I have reviewed some old threads and have a few questions. I bought my daughter a 20 guage Mossberg 500 with rifled barrel, and scope. I know that sabot type rounds are recommended. After reading some threads I see that I can also fire the traditional slugs out of the rifled barrel. The sabots come to almost $15 a box!!!!! Are they that much better? Can I sight in with the cheaper slugs and then fine tune with the sabots to save some money? I am not that concerned with leading. I AM concerned about my wallet. Thanks all in advance.

Sabots are designed for rifled barrels ,standard slugs for smoothbore . Yes you can use standard slugs in rifled barrels but they won't be as accurate as the sabots.

Most rifled slugs will lead up a rifled barrel in short order. Stick to sabots.

Use sabots in a rifled bbl, you CAN use rifled slugs, but you can also run diesel in your gas car.
