My Mossberg's barrel had "not for use with slugs" stamped on it, so I got a "slugster" smooth barrel for it to shoot rifled slugs. I want this gun to do HD duty also without changing barrels, so is it ok to use buckshot (00 for example) with this barrel?

If ti's not rifled, it should work with 00 or other buck.

That's what I thought. So why on earth does the original barrel say I can't use slugs? Is it because of the choke? I don't know what choke is in it, sorry, I'm kind of new to shotguns.

not for slugs

I have seen the "Not For Slugs" on a Mossberg turkey gun barrel.
The turkey choked barrels are tight bored and tight choked for shot
and will not give good accuracy with slugs. And they lead
up like crazy when you fire slugs through a turkey choke extra
super tight full. Pressure might get a little high too.

A smooth bore (non-rifled) slug barrel cylinder or improved
cylinder will have no problems with buck shot or bird shot
and makes a nice open brush pattern. Also good for HD ranges.
