From my research, I have small base in for 5.7x28 and 308, the size the base smaller the factory. You loss in accurately but gain in feed reliability.... I could be wrong

I was thinking like a bulge buster. I have a glock that bigley bulges cases but size just fine with standard dies

I use a bulge buster for my .40, it makes a big difference. But my STi VIP .40 is a jam-o-matic

Small base is usually referring to full length bottle neck sizing dies, for pistol they are usually called undersize dies. They mean the same thing, but bottle neck dies change several other dimensions of the case, small base specifies what is undersized. They help reliability for tighter chambers, but do not do the same thing a bulge busting kit does

I been reloading for 8 years and there are still things that confuse me. Like when I first open that reloading manual as if it was written in Alien language

Lee makes some "undersize" sizer dies for pistol calibers. Is that what you have?

Whoops, should have read all the posts, @243winxb beat me too it.
