Hi guys,

Do you know if a small ring 1893 cocking piece will fit a standard 1898 Mauser?

Thanks!

do you just need a 98 cocking peace.
Maybe I should give a little background. I’m building a custom large ring sporter. I saw a cocking piece for sale which I like the aesthetic of the knurled knob. It is off a 1936 Mexican small ring Mauser.

The interesting thing is it doesn’t look like a traditional small ring cocking piece (as pictured below)

And looks much more like a large ring cocking piece as pictured here

Ultimately I’d like to use it for this aesthetic

That is not off of a Spanish anything. It's from a 1936 Mexican which is a small ring 98.
There was no Spanish 1936.
The photo of the action appears to be a Mexican, either 1910 or 1936.
The cocking piece should work with your 98 large ring. I say "should" but it all depends on the cuts in the rear of your firing pin matching up in the cocking piece and if so, then there must be proper pin protrusion at the bolt face.
Unless you know someone that has tinkered with Mexicans, you wont be able to know unless you purchase it and start putting the parts together.
