I have a K9, which is great for what I use it for, but I'd like a similar sized single action or double action 9mm auto. The K9 is so thin, are there any other small autos out that can compare?

I had a Firestar plus for a while. Is was a good pistol, but the workmanship wasn't as good as my K9. If Kahr made a SA version of the K9 I'd be tempted to buy it.

Smallest is Rohrbaugh R9, Colt Pocket Nine is also very concealable.

I assume you want a single action/double action.....not a double action only so the DAO Rohrbaugh is out. I would think you're gonna get into a pretty heavy or pretty rare gun to find a concealable SA auto 9mm.

HP "Detective" 3.75" barrel. Same frame, however.
Beretta 9000s.
Bersa Thunder 9
CZ 2075 RAMI
Springfield Armory XD-9 3". Yes, it is actually single action.
Taurus 905i. Unfortunately, its a J-frame sized DA/SA revolver.

Didn't Colt make a "Pocket 9"? You could probably find one of those floating around, somewhere.

The Star Firestar Plus (with alloy frame) is just a little larger than a Kel-Tec P-11, and has a potentially nice SA trigger. I've got one I play with, now and then. (Even shot it in a small IDPA match once, and did well with it.)

I am a little confused by the question, but the only single action 9mms that I know about are:

Browning HP
1911 9mms
HK P7

My P7 has a 3.5 lb trigger pull. Throw in a fixed barrel, and you can understand why it's my favorite.

Springfield made a small 1911 pattern 9mm. I don't recall if it was a Commander size or smaller.

The single stack Firestar would be one of the best small SA 9mm pistols. Most are good reliable little guns with good triggers.

They are a good safe gun with a manaul safety that blocks the hammer and a firing pin lock that makes for good safe carry either cocked and locked or hammer down.

The only thing I don't like about them is they are heavy for their size.

But if one wants a good reliable small 9mm for a carry gun it is almost impossible to beat the Glock 26. It is not SA but it is good one.

The Star Firestar plus SA was nice but it was bigger than my K9, especially the grip. I think the K9 is especially thin because of the patented offset feed ramp. It's the width that makes the K9 so easy to conceal.

I like the colt .380 size, but not .380 caliber, I'll have to look up the Colt pocket 9, never seen one. Is that made by Star? I know Colt had some older pistols made by them.

Thanks.

the problems with the Firestar single-stacks is weight.

One of the jokes at the range where I shot was that if I ever had to use it in self defense and I missed my target, I could just drop it on the bad guy's foot and he'd be out of action for a week!

Its so darned heavy that it would be almost unusable as a pocket carry gun -- unless you wear suspenders. Pretty good guns, otherwise.

I had a Star Firestar in .40 for a while. Loved it, but even with a good holster, it was almost too heavy for carry.

The Firestar Plus, while wider, is much lighter.

Star BM isn't much bigger than the K9 and is SA. It's about the size of a Colt Commander.

Inexpensive too.

The Colt Pocket Nine is a DAO also, heavy trigger, small, light, and accurate.

Springfield made a 3" 9mm on a 1911 platform. They show up on gunbroker every now and then. They were made through 04. CZ makes a CZ75BSA that is a SA only. I don't know if they make it in the compact series or not?

Very true. They are very nice and you can pick them up cheap. I got a excellent condition Starvel 9mm for $225. It was almost new and it shoots like a much larger gun. Recoil is very light and I have shot 1 1/2"-2" groups at 25 yards in my bullseye matches. It has a great trigger and I have never had a jam. Wonderful gun for the money. It is smaller than the Kahr K-9 in the grip which puts it almost in the K-9 Covert size range. It weighs just as much as the K-9, S&W 3913 and Star BM and they are all larger guns.

If you don't mind 25ozs in your pocket plus ammo weight, the Star Firestar could work but I think it is too heavy for pocket carry. It is not as slim as the Kahr so it not as good for waistband carry either. Still a good gun but limited in uses due to size, capacity and weight. A glock 26 would be just as easy to pack but it would carry 10+1 instead of 7+1.

The Colt Pocket Nine is a DAO, single stack, 17oz that is a little bigger than the .380 Mustang.
