I have a Smith 432PD I bought new back in 2004. I carry a 442 daily and sometimes the 432 PD as a BUG. Is it possible and safe to carry 32 ACP Fiocchi FMJ in the 432 occasionally? I have several hundred rounds of the Fiocchi on hand for my Kel Tec P32. Additionally which do you think would would give better penetration, the. 32H&R Magnum HP (Hornady Critical Defense) or the Fiocchi 32 ACP FMJ? Thanks.

The 32 H&R Mag is going to provide better penetration. Heavier bullet moving at higher velocities. As to the first question, I don't have any personal experience. I have read that some folks don't have trouble firing the ACP, and some do. I haven't tried them in my LCR 327, nor do I intend to, so I can't offer anything there.

I'd personally just stick with the 32, 32 long, or 32 Mag rounds, and skip the 32 ACP. For defensive purposes the 32 H&R Magnum round is the clear winner.

The 32 ACP round will push a 71gr bullet around 900fps at best. The 32 H&R Magnum round will push a 90gr bullet faster than that. For SD the 32 Magnum is a better choice IMO. Your revolver is chambered in 32 H&R, take advantage of it.

I have a 431PD -- the exposed hammer version or your 432PD.

I tried 32 ACP and got light strikes -- about one per cylinder fuĺl.

Not good for defense, but safe to shoot.

My old 31-1 s&w in 32 long shoots 32 ACP reliably.
