smith and wesson mod.637

It is an easy to carry firearm that will serve you well as a daily carry piece. Because it is light weight it will have a bit more felt recoil than an all steel j-frame. Also j-frames, because of their light weight and small grips, require some practice with in order to shoot proficiently. You can pocket carry a 637 or carry it on your ankle or on your belt. Most folks pocket carry that particular gun.

Here are the specs from the smith website.

J Frames are very popular

I prefer a steel frame (and prefer pre MIM, IL guns) so a model 36 is on my "to by" list.

Shoot before you buy.

I tote one every day. I carry 158gr XTP +P's in it. I like it alot, the only change I made was that I didn't like the rubber grips and put original s&w round butt wood grips on it ( I can hold it better). Now, I practice with 148 wadcutters, std load. The 158 +P belches a crapload of fire and is a bit rugged on the hand after about 20 rounds. But I like the little jewel.

I've carried it in my pocket, on my ankle and IWB. Great little pistol to take anywhere.

I like all the S&W Airweight J frames but for conceal carry I prefer the Centennial frame (M442/M642) or Bodyguard frame (M438/M638) over the Chief's Special frame. (M637)

The 637 is a great snubbie that offers the option of single action shooting, but if you want to pocket carry you might be better served with a concealed hammer or shrouded hammer model.

I love mine, but finish is starting to bubble on top right side of frame forward of cylinder. It's only 2 months old, kept very clean. It's in a speckled manner, I'm thinkin it's from the blast. Shot a lot of 125 gr +P's in her. Gun handles real well, and boy the accuracy from that 1 7/8" barrel was greatly impressive. POI is dead on with POA @50' with 125 gr JHP +P's as with 158 gr FMJ standard specials. 130 gr FMJ's little high-left. Pleasure to carry.
