A local gun shop has a 2" Smith 19-3, P&R, for $379. It's sporting beat-up Pachmyr grips. I would put the bluing at 80%; the wear is consistant with holster use. Lock-up is good. Trigger is sweet in both DA and SA. I don't have the scratch for a full payment, but they're willing to work with me for 90 days layaway. Because I'm a good customer, he'll waive layaway fees. If something happens and I have to back out, I lose 10% of the total price.

Do it or pass?

I should add that its truly not a needed gun. My snub-nose needs are met by a Colt Dick Special. My K frames are represented by 4" models 10 and 15 in .38 Spcl, 17 in .22LR, and a 4" 66. I don't know that there's a niche for it to fill other than another super-smooth K frame.

Many consider the M19 (and her stainless sister, the M66) to be the high-water mark of S&W K-frame design. You won't find me arguing the point.

Sounds like a fair price, and I doubt that it will ever be worth less.

BTW, IIRC, should be 2 1/2" barrel.

Best regards, Rich

JUMP!!

That's a heck of a good price and a fine gun.

I pack one everyday.

I paid almost twice as much for one in excellent condition, nickel finish, original grips. I love how mine looks but even more how it shoots, even with .357 magnum rounds. Like you I wasn't short on snubbies at the time but I couldn't just let the darn thing just sit there in a pawnshop.

Now that I know how it shoots, I'm going to say "buy it".

Hey Rev-

I too, think its quite possibly a 2.5" Smith. I own the same type weapon [a
2.5" S&W model 66-4], that I picked up on the used market for $225 OTD.
Like you, I didn't really need it; but I could not pass the deal up. My short
barrel rotation of weapons are met with a S&W [old model] 60 - nothing, a
S&W 37-2, a S&W 442, a Colt Agent, and several Colt Dick Specials. The
only one I carry on certain occasions is the S&W model 60; in an old $6.00
leather IWB holster, as made by John Bianchi. It wears a set of Pachmayr
compact rubber grips; but I have the original walnut grips also. Actually, I
gave a little mo'money for it ($249.95 + tax) than I did the S&W 66-4~! :scrutiny:

Buy it, Pastor!
It needs a good home and if you decide to sell it you have a captured market of snub aficionados right here.

GREAT gun!

GREAT price!

Buy it, shoot it, love it! There won't be anymore revolvers as nice as that model 19. At least from S&W anyway. ;)

Don't do it! Give me there number and I will call and tell them off for ya.:)

To tell the truth though. Sounds like a heck of a deal to me. I would jump on it in a hart beat. I have been looking for one for about a year now and have not found one for less then $550. Get it and enjoy, if you find it not to your liking? Give me a shout.

Quoheleth, I live in Houston also. If for any reason you decide to pass on it, I would really appreciate knowing the name of the shop. It would be a good playmate for my 10 and 14.

I had a D.I. a million years ago who used to tells us, "Do it now quickly, quickly."

May I offer you the same advise, "do it now quickly, quickly."
