I've searched every way I can think of and I couldn't come up with anything on the 610.

Do any of you own one? How do you like it? Does it shoot .40S&W as well? If so, how, moon clips?

I really like the Polymer moon clips made by RIMZ. No tools needed just slip them in and out. The 610 RIMZ moons allow you to hang them off of moon clip holders for competition. You can also get the metal moon clips from Ranch or Hearthco.. though the Hearth moons are a bit pricey.

Had a 610 briefly. Great gun. Fired quite a few .40s through it with no problem. I had a de-mooning tool which was pretty handy; I forget the name of the manufacturer but you should have trouble finding on the ‘net. It looks kind of like a big pair of needle-nose pliers. I sold the gun because it was too heavy to carry, but in retrospect I regret it- it was really a nice shooter.

i have an early model. It's a good shooter. Strong, accurate, and if you handload allows you to push the 10mm cartridge. The moonclips holds the .40SW as well as the 10mm cartridges.

I have a 5" and a 6.5". Don't shoot 40's, so don't need clips. Hot loads in 10mm are more fun, to me, than 41's, 44's and even 357's. I've just received my 10mm Magnum cylinder from the gunsmith, and will have it at the range this week with some initial loads. Fits both guns. Plan to see just what the 10mm bore will do.

I also have a 3" unfluted S&W Model 610, and I won't use anything except the RIMZ now that I have tried them. IMHO, this may be the "ultimate" combat revolver.

I had a 6.5" 610, it shot .40s well. RIMZ clips are great for casual use. I sold it because I also have 57s, so it seemed a bit redundant. I kept my 646 though, and am toying with the idea of having a 686 cylinder rebored to 10mm for it. :)

Marcus, "the lock" is an unsightly hole over the cylinder release. It serves no useful purpose and may malfunction and tie up the gun. It is a piece of political correct nonsense that has ruined S&W revolvers for many gun owners.

Here is the first 50 shots I took with my 610 at 15 yards offhand.

I thought it was a keeper!

I have been looking to have this done also. How did it work? Can you say who did the work.

That Taffin article and Accurate Arms are the only sources of data I know. They're only a starting point with the 610. The AMT they used has a much tighter chamber (not throat), around .424, while my 610's are closer to .428. This appears to cause a big pressure difference. I'll probably wind up exceeding what's published (carefully, of course).
