Hey, everybody. I went to the range with my S&W M&P 15 Sport today to test out my new EOTech sight.

If you're curious what I've done to the rifle...everything's detailed here:

Anyhow, we were shooting my buddy's M193 ammo, this stuff:

Here are my targets. These are AFTER I zeroed in the EOTech.

Please note: The stickers on the top of the target are due another shooter popping my target. I didn't want the target to go to waste, so on the stickers went.

Anyhow, that's about it. I'm really happy with what the EOTech can do in my VERY unskilled hands. I know these groups are crap, but this is essentially my 3rd time shooting this rifle. Anyhow, please feel free to comment to your heart's content.

And here's a final pic of me shooting the rifle.

You probably have figured this out but when going for accuracy on the Eotechs, turn the brightness down to the lowest point to where you can still see the inner dot- really helps not cover up the target. They are my favorite short use optic. Nice shooting.

That's a nice looking rifle there! I certainly wouldn't call those groups "bad" at all; they are all minute-of-bad-guy so you really haven't lost anything at all! The way I look at it, unless I'm shooting my .30-06 "supposed-to-be-accurate-rifle," I find minute of paper perfectly acceptable because at least I am putting shots in a "close enough" area (you don't aim for the spine on a bad guy, you aim for the chest, therefore a heart, lung, or liver hit is "extra points." :neener:

Are you planning on throwing some BUIS on there or just solely relying on the Eotech? Also which foregrip is that? It looks pretty nice...

Thanks all.

Yeah, I have some Magpul MBUS on order. Ultimately, I'd like to have the EOTech on a Larue quick release mount as well, so I can pop it off when I clean the rifle and have it return to zero when i put it back on.

The grip is a Grippod:

I really dig the built-in bypod, it's pretty tough but light.

You've got to be joking! I've heard of poor range etiquette, but that's simply obnoxious. I can't imagine sharing the range with someone who's either too incompetent to know which target is theirs or simply doesn't care.

^yup. It was a d-bag undergrad kid with a 10-22. He got off several shots before I saw what was going on. I don't even think he was purposefully aiming at my target...a lot of people just point their guns downrange and 'have at it.'

How much does that Grip pod run for? Did you get it online or in store?

In case you didn't see my signature, I'm in the middle of building my own AR-15 so I'm getting as much info as possible on eventual accessories I'm going to want to throw on :D

Congrats on your new purchase! What kind of rail did you put on it?

The one I have is the "military" model with the steel feet instead of polymer. They run about $120-$150 online, depending on where you go. Luckily, my good friend has been running ARs for some time now and had several he isn't using. I got it used from him for $60.

The rail is a GEN 1 Midwest Industries 10 incher. They can be had on clearance right now for $115 shipped!

Heh, interesting point - sounds like an improvement over the ones I issued to my Soldiers. Thier grip-pods, which I despised... they simply served to make Soldiers lazy and inaccurate, were all plastic. No metal feet.

The polymer models we had weren't bad, I just couldn't stand them. I was very opposed to VPG's on a M4 for various reasons that invovled getting into and out of a military vehicle. Given the angled forward grips now available, I may have used one on an issue rifle. But I steered clear of the vertical ones.

I allowed my guys to outfit thier rifles however they preferred, though. Shooters choice.

But your rifle looks very nice. And what's better is you appear to know how to use it!
