I'm bored so I thought I would do a review on my M&P15 rifle.
I bought my first AR in light of the election, and because it was on my short list. I knew I wanted a collapsible stock, and removable carry handle. Those were the only two features I was looking for. I took a look at Bushmaster, Colt, DPMS, Stag, and a couple home builds. I was going to go with a Bushmaster, but my FFL dealer wanted almost 1100 dollars for it. Then I turn around to walk out and go shopping elsewhere, and there sat a Smith & Wesson M&P15 carbine on the counter with a sign advertising it for $995. It was just under my budget of a 1000 dollars. I picked it up and shouldered it. I immediately fell in love, because it seemed to have better fit and finish, and was cheaper. I put it on layaway, and had to wait another month before I could pick it up (longest month of my entire life).
I brought it home back in September, and could not put it down. I wasn't planning on adding much to it, maybe a sling and a good quality optic. I took it to the range last month, and put eighty 55 gr. Remington UMC rounds down range, and got 1/4" groups @ 25 yards. I know that's nothing impressive given it is a rifle, but I never touched the sights. It is far more accurate than my Romanian AK-47, and I still wound up adding stuff to it for "just in case" reasons LOL!
In a nutshell, the M&P15 is top quality for the price I paid for it, and I'm happy to own it!
I added a UTG (I know its an airsoft company, and not the best quality) rail system and folding vertical grip for more stability. I hope to buy an EOtech holo sight and single point sling in the near future.
