Picked this up a couple of days ago and have been marveling at the craftsmanship ever since. It is a S&W Model 27 made in 1960 with the "four screw" frame, 6-inch barrel (with Patridge sight) and matching magna grips. It is not in like new condition, which is how I was able to afford it. Some holster wear at the muzzle, cylinder and the "horn" of the backstrap, but nothing serious. The previous owner had replaced the sideplate screws with allen head fasteners, apparently to avoid buggering up the originals . . . which he then lost.

Please excuse the crappy pics, but it's what I can do.

Thanks for the kind words. I wound up giving $660 for it out the door. More than I would have paid just a couple of years back, but it seemed like a square deal in today's market.

Unfortunately, I made the mistake of looking around my dealer's inventory and saw a beautiful Browning semi auto takedown .22 rifle sitting in the corner--made in Belgium in 1963. So, it became a two gun day.

Nice two for one (two guns in one visit that is). Both the S&W Model 27 and the Browning .22 rifle would be too good to pass up. Congrats on your most excellent buys.

"Its not in like new condition", shoot son, ain't nothing wrong with that one! I'd have hauled that home too, even if I had to come back for the Browning rifle later on. That little bit of wear on the muzzle is nothing but honest wear, the cylinder line is nothing to worry about either, you did good !

Hello friends and neighbors // Outstanding snag/save on the 6", 27... at that price it could not have been there long or you don't live around here.

Lots of life left in that old beauty, hope you enjoy the way the .44mag frame tames the .357mag.

I recently picked up a 4", 1935,C.P.D.,, .38-44 Heavy Duty... it sure tames the .38 special. :D

Enjoy the search

Nice price on a nice gun. Safe queens ain't good for nuthin' except maintaining their "virginity." Yours looks very nice and will be a LOT of fun to shoot too!

Thanks for sharing!

In my opinion the best Smith revolver ever made. The screws dont look too bad. You could always call up numrich for originals
