Why not a 3006 what's the difference!!
My friend got smokeless muzzleloader.

Many ML regulations specifically state that only black powder or a substitute can be used during ML season.

As to using it in lieu of regular firearms, probably just novelty.

It seems like Gunwerks or McWhorter or both make custom smokeless MLs that are accurate out to pretty crazy distances.

You still have to take the time to load the components from the front (think follow up shots). Therefore, in my opinion, the only real difference is that they clean easier and don’t have to be cleaned as promptly after firing.

I don’t have one.

Some people just want another reason to kill an animal.
Modern inlines are a scourge to the ML world.
Some people want another "reason"? Nice attitude. Good job disparaging your fellow hunters. Are you a fellow hunter or an anti-hunting troll? Nobody needs any other reason to hunt than they just plain want to do so. You don't like it, go pound sand.

As far I know, every State has stipulations on what someone hunts with, when they can, what they can and even time of day they can do so, only if they have already purchased a license.
As far as I can tell, nobody in this thread is advocating hunting with an illegal implement or going against regulations. Let me append a few words to Fine Figure's comment, which I believe were implied (and Fine Figure can correct me if I'm wrong): Who cares what someone else hunts with, as long as they follow all hunting regulations?

I should say, I am in agreement of the notion, was just pointing out that there are many and the growth in the trend seems exponential, for people to tell others what they should or should not do, how to do it etc.

In some circles I would be chastised for using he or she and told to use ‘they/them’ instead, just because someone had a stupid idea rattling around in their head.

Human nature I guess. A, I don’t drink, so we should have a nation wide prohibition on alcohol, kind of thing.

The very opposite of “My right to swing my arm ends at the tip of your nose.” Or if my actions have no effect on you, you have no need to restrict them.

Please, would somebody help me out?
Yes sir!

A smokeless muzzle loader is a muzzle loading rifle or pistol that uses a barrel and breech that is designed to be muzzle loaded with modern high pressure smokeless powders like IMR 4350 or Reloader 15.

They create near center fire velocities with a muzzle loaded bullet.

Make no mistake they are muzzle loaders. But unlike a traditional muzzle loader can withstand the pressures of being loaded with modern smokeless powders.

I hope that clears it up. :)

Are traditional ML's the scourge of the archery world?
No, sir. That would be crossbows. And woe be unto those who call themselves a bowhunter in in some circles while using one! Some dude with a decked out $1600 350fps compound and $200 arrows will scream and shout it ain't archery because, well, just because you ain't earned it what with all that easy aiming and holding draw and such. LOL!

But unlike a modern muzzleloader which is generally not going to blow up from an overcharge of black, the smokeless are just as susceptible as any metallic cartridge design to come unglued from an over-max load so carefully weighed charges are required.

Yes, it certainly does. Thank you! :)
Edited to add: I'd never heard of such a thing.

It’s a brave new world in muzzle loading and archery. They’ve got cross bows now days that can accurately zap stuff at 100+ yards. Heck a lot of vertical bow shooters are zapping stuff at past 100 yards. I’m not condoning nor am I against any of this. I’m simply a humble observer of technology and human capability.

Edited to note that I am an avid recreational archer and love shooting my compound bow.I find it challenging and focusing and relaxing. I can reliably hit the “kill zone” of a target out 80 yards.

I occasionally bow hunt and strive to keep my shots at about 50 yards and in on game.

I know men and women who can consistently keep 5 arrows inside of 6” at 100 and even 110 yards with a bow. Archery technology and shooter training and ability are incredible now days.

Savage made a 10ml. An ml2 and a stainless version accurate to 300 with yhe right loads. Remington also built one based on the 700 action. The 10 ml I had recommended powders like 5744, 4227, h110. There were instances of these rifles coming apart with serious injuries which is why, iirc savage doesn't, manufacture them anymore. Had mine for a couple of years but never got a chance to shoot it with smokeless powder because I couldn't find any of the suggested ones locally.
