As soon as I heard that Colt was going to reintroduce the Python, I had a fire sale of some guns that were just collecting dust so I'd be ready when I saw one.

Yesterday was the day. I walk into the shop, do the usual "Hi, how's everyone" and so on, then say, "I'm just looking for a Python."

We got one of the new ones. OH?

Out comes the blue box and inside is about the prettiest gun I've ever seen. The finish just gleams like a mirror. It's got a 6" barrel, I'd prefer a 4", but the 6 looks and feels good. I can make an exception.

Out of the box it's got a great trigger. I knew just how good it was when I handed it to my wife who wouldn't know a good trigger, from the brake grip on her walker, and her eyes just went wide...WOW!

The fit, the finish, the lockup were all spot on. OK...the grips are sort of mundane, but they feel good and aren't ugly. They fit without a seam at all. They almost look like one piece of wood where they join.

I haven't fired it of course, but I have dry fired it a couple-three hundred times. Everything works just as it should.

Did I mention that it came home with me? I guess I didn't need to.

Price was right on the MSRP $1499.99. Yea, I could have waited and maybe saved some money, but on the other hand, I might not live that long. I ain't getting any younger.

I never owned a Python and certainly wont pay the $3-4K, or more, for an "old" model. I hope Colt is on the right track, I have heard about some teething problems but its still too early to tell. I wish Colt well and hope they can turn themselves around. I'm waiting for a shooting report about your new Snake.

Congrats, hope she's a reliable shooter for ya!

I hear the grip frame are the same as the original pythons if you wanted to change them up. I think it mentions it in one of colts promo videos.

If looks are any indication you've got yourself a great revolver, good luck with it!

Wonder why Colt cheaped out with the laminated grips? Can't imagine solid wood would have been that much more.

Nice looking wheel gun. Keep us in the loop on how it functions! Lot’s of problem reports, I hope to hear good news.

Well, I took it to the range this morning. I only took 50 rounds of Fiocchi 140 grain FMJ, 357 ammo with me for the Python, so it's not an extensive report, but here it is.

Except for one dud round (three strikes failed to fire it) everything was perfect. No problems with the cylinder turning or anything. Empty cases ejected with ease. The grips were surprisingly comfortable. I'm a really lousy shot, but the accuracy impressed me. Even I was able to hit my target, and reasonably close to where I was aiming.

Best part of this whole thread!:rofl::rofl:

The grips may say walnut but I’ve never seen walnut grain that looks that way. CDNN advertises walnut Python grips that appear to be as the original. I think they go for a bit of $50 (not sure about that). The grips on Cajun’s Python look OK but, gun is so pretty, who’s looking hard at the grips. I’ve owned several Pythons over the years and either traded or sold them. I lust for a 4” version of the 2020 model. Not that I would’t gladly accept a 6” gun
