So much for deversity of thought-

[Edited by a Moderator. Post from a non-Liberal in the Liberal Only Area]--- As seen on the Liberal Forum

I see this as so typical of the Left, but I bet somewhere the Right does it too. Anyone know where?

I dunno, but...

...the left needs a place to play where no conservatives can butt in and spoil their fun with logic, facts, and common sense.

This liberals-only club is particularly amusing/hypocritical given the antics of some college administrators to forcibly diversify certain (mostly conservative) campus groups; by requiring, for example, Christian groups to admit atheists and Republican groups to admit Democrats. Mike Adams, a professor at UNC-Wilmington who writes columns for Townhall.com and the NRA, has had an ongoing battle with UNC administrators over the issue of "diversity."

And these idiots won't let anyone play in their sandbox... Well, it is their sandbox...

I've not seen such a control of where somebody posts in a website forum, on any conservative forum I've browsed--albeit that I don't wander about all that much. No "conservative views only" forum.

At least the Liberal Forum isn't as paranoid about reasonable voices as is Democratic Underground...

However, I don't have a problem with a limited-view forum within a website. Those who create a site have the right to institute such rules as are desired.

Just like THR.

I really don't see the big deal. Their forum is open to anyone who wants to post, but they've reserved a small area for liberals only. It's akin to having a VIP section in a nightclub. They aren't trying to keep anyone out, they just want to have one room to themsleves. More bothersome should be the person who blatantly ignored the rules by posting in the off limits area.

The UNC situation doesn't even compare. If the group wants to discriminate, then they can fund themselves through member dues instead of fees drawn from the student body.

Actually, there was a guy on that thread that was doing quite well at disputing some of the gun grabber crap using facts and logic. He wasn't moderated out.

The guy who was moderated out had a user name of voteforbush. Not all of his posts seemed to be moderated either. I don't know what his posts were before they were moderated, but on topic arguments seemed to be left alone.

For a liberal forum, in a liberals only area, I thought they were pretty reasonable. It is a private forum.

SCOTUS has repeatedly held (e.g., Rosenberger vs. UVA, Lamb's Chapel vs. Center Moriches School District) that public resources cannot be withheld based on the subject matter of the activity. A religious or political group is entitled to associate freely.

It's the irony

flatrock,

It’s not the “legalityâ€, or the “morality,†it’s the “irony “ of the exclusion by those known to force diversity on others, that I find interesting.

FreeRepublic routinely removes threads that start out promoting leftist views (not to be confused with presenting leftist views for purposes of analysis, example & ridicule). Leftists are welcome to contribute to threads (if they can stand the heat).

However, that differs from Democratic Underground where they have a forum where all pro-rightist posts are deleted outright.
