Find an FFL close to you that will do a transer for a reasonable price ($25 is what I pay) then have them send their FFL to whoever you want to buy from, CDNN or otherwise.
Place your order and reference your FFL.
The gun ships to your transfer dealer, you go in and they do the NICS, fill out the 4473, you pay the transfer fee and it's done. Now this is in a state without odd state requirements.
CDNN specifically I've done business with on magazines and parts, but not a firearm. I've always had good experiences buying from them.
I've bought guns from CDNN. Very good and easy to do business with. You have to download their pdf catalog for the guns, they don't list them on the web site.
I have had many great dealing (in fact one just a few days ago) with CDNN on firearms, parts, and accessories. I highly recommend them.
*** Note on finding an FFL to do transfer:
Go to Gunbroker and click on the "For Buyers" tab near the top of page. Then anout halfway down the page click on the "Find a Transfer Dealer" link. Here you can search (by zip code) for someone local to you that has an FFL and does transfers.
For mags and accessories, I've had pretty good service from them. There was only one time where I ordered HK stamped G3/91 mags and got non-stamped mags. (They seemed identical to the real thing as I compared them to my current stock so I let it slide.)
Did go in on a deal with a friend on their deal on FN guns (buy so many and get a PS90 free). We got all of the guns ordered except for the FS2000s. Been waiting for a few months now.
Apparantly few people really understand what guns are actually 'safe' for the peasants to buy so as not to hurt themselves. I did buy a Rossi lever action from them and had no problems at all. Nice people.
