So, WHERE IS IT??

Ok, you found it, but WHERE WAS IT?

Oh, yes. Well it was in a box labeled "springfield parts" which was at the bottom of a larger box containing ziplock bags full of resized and deprimed '06 brass. I found it because the larger box had begun to fall apart and needed repacking.

On reflection, it should have been obvious all along.

So you're sitting in a room that you know should contain two chairs. You see one on the far side of the room. Where's the other one? I've had such a dilemma before. And you think I should know where miscellaneous parts are? They're in the house somewhere. If I crawl around with my eyes closed long enough, I should find them.

At first I thought you'd misplaced the actual FAL.

Say what you will, if you haven't noticed a battle rifle inside your fridge for several months then perhaps you're not quite observant enough to shoot the thing at more than paper...

Just the other day I was talking to a friend on my cell phone, the subject of another old friend came up and I was asked if I had their number. I experienced a few moments of panic as I reached in my pocket for my phone to get the number...

I couldn't find my cell phone!

Oh, nevermind...

Funniest thread since Heller broke.

I do this all the time. I need a specialized tool that I know I have, can't find it anywhere. I go to the hardware store and buy a new one. After using it I put it in a place where I will KNOW where it is when I need it again and there's the old one.
The most recent event was an anvil. Not kidding. This time I was lucky: on the way to the store I found it in the back of my Jeep.

I have seven 15mm sockets. I have three more deep 15mm sockets. I dont know where they came from?

I've found all kinda of gun stuff I dont remember buying. I cant find a LPK that I got a while back, for a lower I got a while back, and never did put together. I do still know where the lower is though, I think. Lemme go check...

go sit down and shut up. then start watching tv or something. it will turn up.

I hate that. My worst times. Id get up go to the garage. turn on the light go inside. Go to the bench. Then i forget why the heck i went to the garage. So im there looking around trying to see if something will pop out and say im here im right here. a few minutes later. I turn off the light come back in. Wife says what ya looking for. So i anwer oh i was just checking something. Go back to the chair sit down. Bingo NOW i remember why i needed to go to the garage.

Yep it happens. **** happens

oh god you guys are killing me

yes i own about 12 16mm sockets. i dont know how many 17mm spark plug sockets a million. but we all do it. i remember as a kid growing up. At my grandparents house. you would go into the garage. almost where ever you looked you would see one of those oil can spouts. The ones you would push into the cans. I never knew why my grandfather had so many of those things. Until now

I know you all were worried about this and just wanted to let you know that I found my flash hider.

Had to move out of the house and pack everything I own into boxes. Just wanted to pass that little trick on in case any of you still have missing items.

this has got to be the best thread i have read in a long time. thank you where ever you are musher.

I was just priming some .223 brass while watching ON GOLDEN POND. Four of them need to have the pockets chamferred. Get up, go to the back room. Get out the chamferring tool, look for the battery operated drill. Can't find it. Wander around muttering. Ask my Lady if she knows where it is. Nope! Both wander around looking. Go back in the back room one more time.

Got it, I yell. Where was it she says. Right where I left it I yell back. Huh!

My work battery op drills are Orange, this one is Blue. Didn't even see it.

If I'm looking at the thread dates correctly,

YOU FOUND IT THREE AND A HALF YEARS LATER?

Wow!

I guess this is the reason i dont work on cars anymore. I take them to the shop. yet i tell you what i have rebuilt about 5 engines, even done some machining. I had a 65 gmc with a V6. took it out put in a V8 then changed it from stick to auto. Then changed out all the old style wiring to a new style alternator one wire job. Heck i even rebuilt a transmission. i used to rebuild carburetors like nothing. yet i wont touch them today. i find i just cant remember everything like i used to. I used to be able to diagnose problems use light testors, ohms meters. My father still has an old 1985 chevy 1 ton truck. With a 454. Most of the engine work i did myself years ago. I rebuilt that carburetor twice. I wouldnt attempt to do that today. i guess the older we get. We get this desease. its called CRS

Cant Remember Shieet

Yeah, well. As I mentioned earlier. I know my rights. I figured the dang thing would give up eventually.

I just got so excited when I found it that I had to resurrect the thread.

The fact of the matter is when I bounced into the house to tell my wife, it didn't really generate the kind of enthusiasm I was hoping for. Actually, at the end of the conversation I sort of got the impression she was trying to make some kind of point about it taking me 3 1/2 years to dig through all my stuff and lay my hands on it.

Not really sure where she was planning on going with that because I slipped out here to the computer room to let you all know. I figured this crowd would immediately recognize the 'high five' nature of an event like this.

I got a single-shot .177 pellet pistol around here somewhere. I also got a can of pellets around here somewhere.

I can never seem to remember where they both are at the same time.

Every once in a while I will come across one or the other and say to myself "Aaaah, THAT'S where that is. . . ok, remember that for when I find the {pellets, pistol}." Of course, later I will come across the other and forget where I saw the first. They got into different boxes during a recent move.

Here ya go. The lighting's bad, but you get the idea...

Wow, after 4 years you finally found it? And then bring this thread from death. :scrutiny:

Not a gun related tool but it is inline with the general topic. I have about 10-15 spark plug gappers, the tiny thing is just too easy to lose. Around 5-10 5/8 spark plug remover sockets, more than enough tire irons, hundreds upon hundreds of writing pens. Can't ever seem to find anything when I need it.

The post above about the cellphone, along with keys and wallet is a daily problem plaguing me.
Heck even the ciggy sitting in the ear. Take one out of the box, someone starts asking you for help, place it in the ear, and when your done, you pull out a new one only to find the other drop out of your ear after you light the second.
