I have a Marlin Guide Gun (1895G) that I've tried installing a couple different recoil pads on. I tried a Sims Limbsaver grind-to-fit, and a Pachmayr Decelerator pad. I'd like a recommendation for someone one of you has used in the past to install recoil pads. I'd take it over to Gander Mountain, but after previous experiences with them I'm not too keen on them butchering my stock up. I liked the Limbsaver, but I mangled it up pretty good trying to do it myself, so I'd rather a professional did it.

Thanks.

I'm going to give Boses Guns a shot. They seem to be pretty reputable, and I've seen nothing but positive reviews about them.

I don`t understand why you can`t get one that fits? I just looked around a bit and found one that was very, very, very close to the exact size. It has about an 1/8"-1/16th" lip on the very bottom which you cant even hardly see.
Another thing is one of the pull-over type. I used one of those on my 7 mag. I just put it on when I shot with it and removed it when I was finished.

I added a limbsaver to mine. No fitting required at all, though the packaging said there might be. Fit was perfect. AND the results spectacular. Mine is a 1895M (.450 Marlin) and light loads need to be hand made. Factory loads are real stout and not all that fun to shoot with the solid butt plate. The limbsaver changed that.

Yeah, I don't know if the stock on my rifle isn't to spec, but I had quite a bit of stock overhanging on the Decelerator. I tried a different cheap pad that felt worse than the stock pad. The grind-to-fit limbsaver I fully admit to destroying, though. I was using a belt grinder to shape it, and it was snatched out of my fingers and caught in the grinder for a few seconds until I got it shut down. It was at this point I decided to forgo any more experiments with recoil pad installation on this particular rifle.
