I have had my CCL for several months and have found that when ever that comforting weight is not on my side I tend to get a little nervous. I can not carry at work(company policy) or have a firearm in my vehicle on company property (again company policy):cuss:. Loving wife says that she feels safer when I carry, even though she has her CCL. :D
Is this feeling of security common among CCl holders? It is a GREAT thing to have.:D

Is your company conducting random vehicle searches? If not, there is little chance they would ever know you have a gun in your vehicle....... unless, of course, you tell someone. If you DON'T have a gun and really need it sometime, finding another job may be the least of your worries.

Yes it is quite normal to feel more secure when you are carrying after you get used to it. I carried concealed and open (Az) for ten years 7 days a week up to 16 hours a day. Got to where I felt naked without that reassuring presence. My son (a teenager at the time) always knew when I was not carrying. On the rare times I was going somewhere (school function) that I could not (would not) carry, he always knew by how I reacted to things around me.

Carrying becomes a way of life, not just a convenience or safety issue. Relax and enjoy!

IMO, the feeling is similar to wearing seatbelts and glasses. Once accustomed to having these "security" features, I feel vulnerable without them.

I can get that feeling if I forget my cell phone! I don't always answer it if I don't want to be bothered, but I sure like having it with me. And my sidearm du jour is even more important to me!

Check for new laws

"I can not carry at work(company policy) or have a firearm in my vehicle on company property (again company policy)."

I don't know about Texas, but Kansas has passed a law (SB 2528), that states that no private employer can stop you from keeping your CCW weapon in you veh on company parking lots.
They can as always prevent you from carrying durring the performace of you duties as an employee.
Several states have passed simular laws, might want to check it out for Texas.

I tend to feel the same way. Same company policy, but since they have no way of legally searching my vehicle, well...what gun?

Several of my buddies(and me)have their CCWs. We have our firearms in our vehicles at work(the same employer). Many know we have our permits, but no one has a problem with carrying in our vehicles.

I don't care what the state law says, if you work, as I suspect he does, for Lockheed, or Voight aircraft, they are on what is considered Federal reservations (i.e. military bases) and Federal rules apply. I have the same restrictions. Sucks, but it is the case.

I get the same feeling when I don't carry....a strong sense of unease.

The company policy is that your vehicle, office and/or work area is subject to a search by security and any and all times. This is a Canadian owned company and all of the managers are from Canada! There have been 3-4 people who were terminated for violating these rules.:cuss: Thier property, thier rules.:banghead: Other than that I enjoy the work. :D

Texas does not have the same law in place as some other states. It was proposed during the last legeslation and failed.

Addiction?

So, what you're telling me, in essence, is that I'm actively working toward participation in an addiction.

Nice.
