Something I've really come to appreciate...

I'm pretty sure tech sights will fit your rifle if you ever want to put a set on....though I think that the rifle might need to be drilled and tapped for the sights to be mounted on that model Marlin.

Oh, I have the sights. It’s not a matter of wanting.

It was missing the rear sight (dovetail mounted) when I received it as a kid, but I sourced one in high school while apprenticing under a local gunsmith. I never did install it, just stuck it into the storage rack (with other , and actually forgot I had it, and ended up buying another one about 10 years ago - only to realize when I went to put it in storage that I now own 2. The front sight fell off the first time while I was in high school, and I loctited the set screw at the time - but when it fell off again while I was in college some years later, I simply removed it and have left it in storage ever since. Wouldn’t want to shoot groups at 100yrds with it, but I don’t want to shoot groups at 100 with irons anyway, but when it comes to anything I do with my “go-to rifle,” I get it done. I suppose when I pass it to my son (4th generation with the rifle), I’ll let him decide whether he wants sights on it or not.

Thundercrap is the absolute bottom of the bottom of the bottom. There are more duds, squibs, FTF per box than there are that are not. In fact, I have had entire boxes FTF or squib. Or they stick in the barrel which is always fun. I would not give them to my worst enemy (if I had an enemy to be worse that I am aware of).

I now find your review, and perhaps sanity, in question.....cause every time I've shot thunderbolt's I've about lost my mind in frustration.
Well my sanity has always been in question.
Thunderbolts are nature's way of convincing one to take up fishing for a hobby.
Taking up fishing for a hobby is nature's way of convincing one to take up beer for a hobby. When I'm done untangling everyone's lines, dealing with baiting the kids worms cause "they poop on me", waiting 30 min at the dock cause city boy can't figure out how to back a trailer, coming home and filleting fish, I'm ready for a beer or 6. I'll take a day with Thunderbolts anytime. Now fishing solo...;)

Loonwulf, even with the Thunderbolts idk, something felt off. Just didn't feel quality. Everyone makes a lemon now and again. One sample isn't enough.

I tend to feed mine a mix of Winchester (had M-22 in stock) CCI Quiet and Standard Velocity, Federal 550 Bulk pack (Copper plated 36-grain hollow point) and Federal Auto-Match (40 Grain LRN). Haven't really had much of a problem with those brands or loadings. I do however avoid Remington Thunderbolts like the plague (too many bad experiences trying to run them in my Marlin semi-auto's back in the late 90's early 2000's)

Much like the O.P., there's something I, too, have really come to appreciate over the last couple years. In my case it's a Savage Rascal which also has a pink stock but blued metal. Got it on sale for the step grand daughter to use and it had a 50 dollar mail in rebate from Savage to boot so I couldn't say no. Funny part of it is myself and lots of other old guys get a kick out of shooting it. It's quite a novelty. Single shot .22's are classic plinkers, IMHO, and with an Accutrigger that breaks at an average of 2 lbs. 11 oz. on a Lyman digital gauge it just enhances the whole experience. It comes with a nice little peep sight that works great for older eyes and just for grins this past winter I got an optics rail for it and put on a small 4x scope ( a compact NC Star that Midway USA had on sale). It's quite accurate and would be great for pest control. Not very tactical but it's a blast and it's also one that gets requested whenever we go plinking. Here's the older step grand daughter shooting it for the first time since it got scoped. IMG_9348.JPG , and yours truly ringing a little steel gong at 50 yds. and I even recall using that real nice Federal Auto-Match ammo that afternoon.... IMG_9354.JPG . ( As long as we're discussing .22 rim fire ammo, too). Plus the Rascal can take 22 short, long, and long rifle.

I have been thinking to get one of those but put it in a full size stock. I love single shots and my only single shot is my Remington 510 from 1939 and since it belonged to my grandfather I do not like to carry it afield any longer, it is semi-retired, not retired! I bring it out to irritate those CZ guys from time to time, but these could be just the ticket.

Just what's ring with a pink Cricket? Thisn' here's my sniper! P1010112b.jpg

Actually I'd had an old Sears Ranger I got from my Dad, I took my daughter went out with me once when she was 7 and said it was too ugly ...

Sears-Ranger.jpg

So I bought a Birch Cricket, thinking my grandson could also cut his teeth on it

IMG-0178.jpg

She shot it once but I couldn't get her to go again, but she didn't like the way it jumps ... said if I got her a pink gun with one of those looky through things (scope) maybe we could go again.

Now I'm just keeping pink Cricket, hoping I'll get a granddaughter that'll go shooting with me, because its still never has a round down the tube!

My Mini-Amazon and Little Bear. AKA Sniper Team 18.(“Because if you add her age and my age it equals 18, be cause she’s ten and I’m eight. We’re not like nine and nine, that would be silly, Dadi, wouldn’t it?”.:))

Savage Rascal and his partner...

Inexpensive, accurate fun for the entire day!

Unless you have Thunderduds or GuildedBS with you.
Yesterday I finished my box of Aguila SE and opened the last remaining box of 525 Golden bullets from a previous lapse of judgement.( M’oh dang! There’s a Bucket O’ Bullets in there too. Why in heck...)
The first one I grabbed the bullet nearly fell out of the case. The rest were okay. Until I shot them. In my Buckmark the bullet profile will gouge a chunk out of the nose and smash the opposite rear side’s bearing surface. They all, remarkably, fired. But they would not be coaxed into the plate for anything.

The bulk box of Thunderduds I got with this box I gave away to a friend. Duds are fine with him. Because the price was right, free. The leading and jams from loose bullets were not fine with me...

Here it is! This is the one!

Single shots are like this...
